In response to “Pay puts crimp on public life; A few Kansas lawmakers have left, and observers say the system makes it hard to draw and keep talent” (7/18, Local): I ran, unsuccessfully, for the Kansas House of Representatives for my district, not because I wanted “a job,” but because I viewed the chance to fulfill my civic responsibility for my great state. Service to the state should never be view as “a career.”
If others are out there looking for a job, I recommend not filing to run for office. Save your filing fees!
