Congratulations to Al Garza (national executive director of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps) for his comments (9/22, Opinion, “Securing the U.S. border is patriotism, not racism”).
At a 1997 meeting of La Raza in Chicago, President Ernesto Zedillo was wildly cheered when he stated, “I have proudly affirmed that the Mexican nation extends beyond the territory enclosed by its borders.”
Two years earlier, Zedillo informed a gathering in Dallas of U.S. citizens of Mexican descent, “You are Mexicans, Mexicans who live north of the border.” Did he, or did he not, imply, “You owe loyalty to Mexico, not Uncle Sam”? Is this Janet Murguia’s thinking also?

irishguy: You aren't questioning what he says. Just belittling the ability to carry it out.
Simply put, if a U.S. citizen is promising loyalty to another government, he is rejecting his citizenship.
The "reconquista" movement claims as it's goal the taking over of the governments of several States through legal means. This is to be followed by secesion from the United States and re-attachment to Mexico.
If we the people condone this, we are giving permission to a foreign government to take our land.

Yeah, right, Ralph. An army of impoverished Mexicans are plotting to take over the United States. First our lettuce fields, then the world!
