Straight of Hormuz incident

It seems that George Bush would like to commit our country to one more little war before he leaves office (1/10, A-10, “President talks tough on Iran”).

If Iranian warships had appeared off the coast of the United States, that might be considered a “provocation.” When Iran responds to American warships off their own coast by sending out a few speedboats — yes, speedboats — one might ask who is provoking whom.

For those who were not around in 1964, I suggest that an Internet search on “Gulf of Tonkin” might prove enlightening.

“Freedom of speech and expression is an issue I've long felt passionate about, and such freedom is one of the ideals that I believe America has bestowed upon the world. I find it disheartening that so many Americans would constrain that freedom.” Posted by: CRD | Jun 13, 2006 7:52:08 AM

Yes, those years haven’t been good to you.

“The archive for this blog only appears to go back to April of 07. How did you get quotes from two years ago, GCYL?” - Jim

Cut and paste. People say a lot of things. Some of them are worth remembering for good and bad reasons. I thought CRD’s statement of the relative harshness of the derogatory labels being irrelevant was a truth for all ages. Apparently CRD would disagree with this today.

The irony is another one of the firsts quotes I thought was worth remembering for all the good reasons was this:

“Freedom of speech and expression is an issue I've long felt passionate about, and such freedom is one of the ideals that I believe America has bestowed upon the world. I find it disheartening that so many Americans would constrain that freedom.” Posted by: CRD | Jun 13, 2006 7:52:08 AM

It has become all too apparent that the author was only referring to people that agree with him.

Jim

[chuckle] How things change in two years' time. Perhaps in a couple more years I'll be slinging around racial slurs like Buddy! ;-P

I'm willing to bet, though, that your own contributions to this site will be just as vacuous as they always have been. ;-D

“Thanks for the amusement, G.” - CRD

Just because you efforts to blame others for your own actions came to naught:

“I've no problem calling Buddy (or you) an idiot when you make idiotic statements, Zeno, but there's a pretty big difference between our little tete-a-tetes and engaging in racial or ethnic slurs.” - Posted by: CRD | Jan 15, 2008 2:38:48 PM

“You seem to miss my point, which is that it smacks of hypocrisy to criticize someone for slapping a judgmental label on someone without giving any supporting argument for your position, then turning around and doing exactly the same thing yourself. That's all. The relative harshness of the derogatory labels .... are irrelevant.” - Posted by: CRD | Jan 20, 2006 9:09:49 AM

“Thank” CRD. He’s all too quick to be rude and judgmental to anyone who expresses an opinion that he disagrees with.

solomon

GCYL,

Thanks for the honorable mention in your listing. I would have hated to have been left out of such an illustrious gathering.

“....who is just out here blogging his opinions.” – Casady

And extremely hypocritical blogging at that.

I’m amazed how much people are frightened at being remembered for what they say and yet have no corresponding fear at posting on blogs.

“It's not like you guys are running for office.” - Casady

Hypocrisy works in politics, not on blogs.

Casady

Wow GCYL, that's almost creepy that you went through that kind of trouble to expose some guy who is just out here blogging his opinions. It's not like you guys are running for office.

CRD

[chuckle] posted by the one guy who never has anything substantive to add. Thanks for the amusement, G.

But no boat or wind noises on the audio, hmmm....

Arminius

"It is suspicious, however, how the audio and video don't appear to have been recorded together, wouldn't you agree?"

Well, duh. The video was recorded with a camcorder while the audio was recorded from the ship's radio system.

CRD

It is suspicious, however, how the audio and video don't appear to have been recorded together, wouldn't you agree?

Jim:

"By the way, folks, that audio on the video of the standoff with the Iranians has been proven to be a hoax. Please keep up with the news before commenting on it."

No such proof exists as of now.

"IMO your insistent calling of President Bush "incompetent' without anything to back up the statement but opinion is ample evidence of prejudice."

[chuckle] You ARE in denial about the events of the past seven years, aren't you?

If prejudice it be, then a solid majority of Americans are "prejudiced" against Bush's leadership.

Good comment on how close we read things. There is the theory that if the first and last letter are correct the human mind can read the word in context. But my all time favorite was the card I got along with my Lts. commission. It was headed INDENTIFICATION..

CED
IMO your insistent calling of President Bush "incompetent' without anything to back up the statement but opinion is ample evidence of prejudice. As to the actual subject of the thread both you and Jim seemed to be questioning the incident. I could see no basis for that questioning except your opposition to President Bush. Really it does seem to me that the Administration has been downplaying actual acts of war by the Iranians. These would include the supplying of weapons and of machined metal shapes for making effective IED's as well as sending in suspected agents to incite insurgence.

BuddyT

Another "pregnant silence" right LIB JIM?

BuddyT

OK CRuD, since it seems to be too tough for you to answer one simple question, how about multiple choice!!!??

A. Whether I served or not is none of your business, ahole...
B. What difference does it make, jerk wad?
C. I don't have to answer to you Red Neck. ; or
D. All of the above....

Speak up you have all the options at your finger tips, and you have LIB JIM to help you out....

LMAO...what losers are they all....
