Thank you, Gov. Blunt

I am truly sorry Matt Blunt will not be running for another term. The citizens of Missouri are losing a caring leader who has done an excellent job.

In 2006, my 35-year-old daughter had an acoustic neuroma (brain tumor) on the eighth cranial nerve. Few Kansas City neurosurgeons had ever performed this particular brain tumor surgery. We decided my daughter would have maximum odds with the neurosurgeons at the House Clinic in Los Angeles, who had performed more than 6,000 of these operations.

Of course, my daughter was turned down twice by her health insurance carrier. Gov. Blunt was asked for help and help he surely did. He instructed the Missouri Department of Insurance to assist her. Her surgery at the House Clinic was approved after grueling and emotional work by her, Missouri Department of Insurance and myself.

After some initial struggles post surgery, she is now fine, a great mother to her 4-year old and a wonderful wife.

Gov. Blunt has had some prayers said his way. He will have our votes if he ever decides to run for any office, and we hope he does.

NMMNG: I'm confused. I thought you had an ex-wife and a child by her.

So Matty walked over, or dialed, up the MDofI folks and wagged his finger and told them how bad they were for not approving this surgery. So Mr Viers, of Lees Summit, didn't mention to what extent this tumor had grown, they usually are slow growing, or why none of the few surgeons in KC who had performed this procedure could be trusted instead of spending the insurance companies profits to go to LA for the operation.

It's wonderful that his daughter had the surgery and is recovered/recovering. But it's REALLY doubtful that Matty had much to do with it.

Her insurance company paid for it as I read the letter, not the taxpayers; after the MO Dept. of Insurance became involved. I am not sure he is a "friend" either of the Gov. I take it that he simply responded to a letter from a citizen of the state.

Hey Ken,

how about some thanks to the Missouri taxpayers who paid for the surgery? It helps to have friends in high places to grease the wheels for you.

Well Don, when the Gov. took office Missouri's medicaid payments were second highest in the nation! You think there might have been some fraud in there? There is no free lunch wagon, no matter how much you whine.

Standing on the corner yelling "gimme", I am sorry to say works all to often. This paper bemoans that 300,000 lost their (state paid) health coverage. Huh? The taxpayers are buying insurance for 300,000 people??!! No wait probably more than 300,000.....no wonder I am broke after April 15th every year.

Ergo I could care less what you think of Blunt.

However, Blunt is pretty much a wimp, no balls and no backbone. I did not like Holden either, he was a tax mongering scoundrel. Blunt appointed worthless people in high level govt positions that have not done their jobs, people like Deborah Scott as an example.

Don S, who exactly did he take insurance away from? Many of the phony poor could afford health insurance but choose other priorities in their finances. Sneakers, bling, season tickets to the Chiefs, manicures, pedicures, expensive hair days, tanning sessions, new cars, more house than they can afford, designer clothes for themselves and their children. Sure there are a few people that are truly poor by no fault of their own but most of "low earners" choose to be low earners, you do realize someone does not just come along and hand you wealth. Of course Don you are probably a Democrat and believe wealth is a right and not a priviledge. What's pathetic is that the middle class have it the worst for not being able to afford health insurance, we make too much to qualify for MC+ and those of us that choose to live morally and stay married have it even tougher as most government social programs promote divorce.

Once again, Matt Blunt has helped someone who can afford insurance. Too bad he has no problem taking insurance from those that cannot afford it. I, for one, am ecstatic that he will not be running again. It gives Missouri a chance to recover from all the damage done while he was in office.
