Cartoons no good

How nice it must be for Glenn McCoy to be one of the few conservative political cartoonists around. Apparently, there’s very little competition, because I can’t for the life of me figure out why anyone would print his work, otherwise.

If Don Martin of Mad Magazine got drunk, angry, in touch with his inner 12 year-old, was given the Republican talking points from three or four weeks (or years) ago and then was told to illustrate them, McCoy’s work is exactly what I imagine he’d produce.

His artistic ability is probably why he rarely features Bush in his cartoons: He can’t draw him (or anyone) without it coming off as insulting.

McCoy’s cartoons are as timely, funny and relevant as a Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky joke. Oh wait, he still does those.

Hmm...maybe Rogue really isn't Buddy after all. This "Nicodemus" idiot sounds just like Buddy.

Whats the matter libs, you're sense of humor ends with any attack on you're candidates character? Buck up weenies. Hillary and Obama are a joke. Hill has eight years experience as the white house hostess, has sponsored no meaningful legislation, has no foriegn policy experience and Obama's resume can be printed on a 2x3 inch business card. And no, I'm not a republican. I'm a Constitutionalist, something most of the other candidates seem bent on circumventing. There oath to protect and defend it, notwithstanding. I like Judge and McCoy, though both take themselves too seriously at times. Get a grip, it's a cartoon, not real life,,,, well maybe in the case of the house falling on Hillary, LMAO!!!

The best humor has a strong basis in the truth. This is why Lee Judge is so boring and predictable, while Glenn McCoy's work is hilarious. See http://www.gocomics.com/glennmccoy/

At least KC Star readers get to see work from at least one conservative. The Code Pink nut that runs the Lawrence Journal-World editorial page runs only liberal (and often the most offensive) cartoonists.

If he was trying to make that point, why do it in a completely erroneous way? Actually now that we have a CC law in Kansas we are all, in my opinion, a lot safer.

Jim

Eng,

It's a cartoon, not a schematic. You're looking for technical accuracy when Judge is making a statement about the danger of guns.

"No Safety" doesn't refer to the physical safety switch on a gun, it refers to the fact that seemingly no one is safe from gun violence.

Obviously, at least in this case, humor, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. Judge is funny sometimes but he isn't very accurate. A few day ago he drew a labeled carton of a pistol (so called semi-automatic hand gun) labeling all the parts and adding a note "No safety". In a long lifetime of using and handling pistols I have never seen one without a safety. 1911 types have two..

McCoy's cartoons are dumb. Judge is funny, but his drawing is terribly messy.

I like David Horsey, who has won a couple of Pulitzers for his work. He's funny and he can draw:

First of all - I really like Don Martin's work.

Second - I can't believe that someone who is subjected to Judge's cartoons on a regular basis would see the need to complain about an artist who can actually draw.

Have you ever noticed that Judge must label every caricature he draws? It's because they all (male or female) look the same.

"McCoy’s cartoons are as timely, funny and relevant as a Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky joke. Oh wait, he still does those."

Yeah - and the left NEVER mentions the 2000 election anymore, do they?
