Gaza conflict

Palestinians in Gaza

The inability to make progress in resolving the conflict in the Holy Land is reflected in recent letter exchanges in The Star. We have Rabbi Scott White (2/4, Letters) replying to Andrea Whitmore (1/30, Letters) by misstating her simple analogy.

Ms. Whitmore was noting the resemblance of the situations and actions of Palestinian refugees escaping Gaza with that of the children of Israel at the time of the Exodus from Egypt. Rabbi White understands her as comparing Hamas and the Hebrews. I’m wondering if this is unintentional or a purposeful misrepresentation.

Further, Rabbi White mentions the Hebrews’ population increase. He might consider the tendency of a people repressed and impoverished to have a much higher birth rate. It is also operative in this instance. The worse the living conditions of refugees disinherited and expelled from their ancestral homes in the state of Israel, the higher their numbers become.

Collective punishment?

If all the residents of the Gaza Strip deserve to be punished because of the Qassam rockets, then perhaps all Israelis deserve to be punished because of the illegal occupation of Palestine.

solomon. Good Evening
So that makes it alright to fire rockets at them and send suicide bombers among them?

Gary,

To the victors go the spoils, or in Israels case, to the people europe did want go the middle east

If the arab countries surrounding Israel wanted to keep the same borders as were provided in the 1947 Balfour declaration, then they should not have tried to invade Israel in 1967. If Israel's occupaion is illegal, then maybe so is Poland's current occupation of Krakow.

Exactly 40. Israelis do not strap C4 and ball bearings to themselves and walk into pizza parlors and kill innocents.

"If all the residents of the Gaza Strip deserve to be punished because of the Qassam rockets, then perhaps all Israelis deserve to be punished because of the illegal occupation of Palestine."

Israel is collectively punished each time a Palestinian suicide bomber crosses the border and murders random Israelis in a marketplace or public square. That's the whole point of terrorism: collective punishment and mass terror. This is the whole point of Hamas, who the Palestinians elected.

Not that Brad Lucht or NoMoreMrNice Guy see anything wrong with that...

My question is why is Israel ALWAYS right and never held accountable?
