Despite the fact that the Britney Spears phenomenon is said to contribute $110-120 million to the U.S. economy (2/1, Stargazing), I find it ludicrous to think she needs more than a dozen police officers to escort her to the hospital for her latest mental breakdown (2/1, Talkers). This is the type of security usually reserved for heads of state, royalty or the pope. If I were a local taxpayer where she resides, I would not appreciate the use of my tax dollars subsidizing police escorts in this ongoing media circus.
Britney Spears is a pathetic, sick young woman who should be left alone by the media hounds so that she can find herself again and heal on her own time.

I would hope that shirt would get you kicked out of most respectable places. But I don't think it would get you accosted as much in a black and hispanic neighborhood as it would at 135th and Metcalf or 46th and Jefferson.

if her manager dosed her, he probably used a horse tranquilizer to keep her out of it enough so she doesn't fuck her life up even more....
and no, i highly doubt k-fed will have to pay "child support"...and actually, in this case, I could see the judge forcing Brittany to give K-Fed alimony and/or child support....after all, how much money does a backup dancer make?

Sol I would imagine I would be given a real hard time while wearing my "F"**K Obama" shirt when I go there.

stone - for now she does not have custody but I would bet that later on she will get it and K-fed will get put on the hook for like tens of thousands of dollars a month in "child support" (like it takes that much to provide regardless of your status).
She had a wholesome life and all the fame and fortune one could want then she went Hollywierd and started being a tramp.
She reaps what she sows. of course hearing about the possibility that her Manager might have dosed her I would feel compassion if that were the case and hope that if he is found guilty of such an act he be taken to the street nad beat with a woofle ball bat.

Good afternoon stone,

Hey nice guy-
Aren't you always complaining about how single mom's always unfairly get custody as the father gets the shaft? Now you are ripping on Brittany, yet she is in the 1% of people who didn't get sole custody of her kids as a single mom.... (and she is not at all a deadbeat parent who chooses to be broke either)

i don't see either person as any type of victim and can't quite get your tie in. Maybe its my love and pitbulls and my disdain for Spears and Vick type everywhere.
And I realize 99% of the time you are being a smartass.
Forget the Grey Poupon, stop by Wild Woodys happy Foods on 31st Street and get some Mauls or other ethnic stuff for your sandwich, and count the blacks and hispanics who'll smile at you as you pass in the aisle. I bet you never get called a cracka or gringo maricon.
Thats me being a smartass

Sol how so? They are both liberal victims and are proof that money is NOT the fix all like so many in the urban core believe it is. I was only being a smarta$$ anyways!
Next time I'll bring some Grey Poupon for all you starchy no sense of humor types.

Anybody who can twist Spears and Vick into the same post is truly twisted. Not even our Engineer friend could intercede on that post.

strslvr - compassion? she brought this on herself. be a good mom? She has money, therefore by default she will be deemed a responsible parent. I am not a fan of the paparazzi but it goes with the terrority. She has millions of dolalrs, hire some mercenaries or prior combat veterans to handle these fools or hire some winner like Mike Vick and have him train squads of killer Pitbulls to handle the scoundrels.
The flakes who decieve them, great statement but let us not limit ourselves to just Hollyweird but also professional athletes and politicians which deceive us every chance they get.

I cant help but think of a Don Henley song called "Dirty Laundry". People love that crap and always will.
As far as police escorts, she has the money to pay for her own security....and should.
I personally think its good for the teenagers who idolized her as a God to see this meltdown. It shows them that these celebrities are really nothing but a bunch of flakes who decieved them.

I agree that she should be shown compassion, understanding and discipline. In my day some responsibible person would have cared enough to speak to her about the facts of life and taken her across the knee's for a good spanking.
Probably happened but she got the wrong message.

Such a shame that people with real mental illnesses are judged so harshly. I am not a fan of Britney but I think she deserves a little compassion. I hope she can heal and be a good mother to her children and have happiness again. All human beings deserve happiness, yes even the Britneys of the world!
As for the police escort, have you seen the number of paparazzi around her home? Keeping those vultures away is why the police were needed.

Now now now, she is a single mom so give her some breaks already! She is a victim.
This was forced on her. It goes with the territory (the media and the spotlight).
As for the police escorts, I agree, why should she get special treatment. Actually why woyuld the Pope need any protection, so long as he prays and gives money to the Catholic church he is covered.
