Light rail in JoCo

Mayor Carl Gerlach’s recent comments on light rail were short sighted and did not represent me as a citizen of Overland Park (2/19, Steve Penn column, “Light-rail idea still a hard sell”). Forty-five thousand people per day ride the ATA because it runs more hours to more convenient locations than “The JO,” a sorry excuse for public transport that only runs limited hours to limited locations. Surely he can see that people like me who commute to downtown daily could and would use light rail, which would cut down on costs and add convenience. Just because I do not “need” light rail doesn’t mean I wouldn’t gladly use and benefit from it.
