Magic wand won’t stop terror

Have we forgotten that on Sept. 11, 2001, this nation was attacked? And that those who attacked us have not been defeated?

America needs to fight these enemies wherever they exist. And they are currently in Iraq. They are still plotting ways to destroy us and our way of life. Fight them there or fight them here?

Should America have attacked Iraq? Hindsight has always been better than foresight. Have mistakes been made? A much bigger mistake is to not defeat your enemy. Is the war costly? Can we afford to lose?

America needs leaders who will have the courage to make the necessary commitments and provide the resources and patience to win this war. Any candidate who ignores or denies this is being dishonest or is in denial. Waving a magic wand of hope and change will not make the enemy disappear.

The economy, health care and other issues will be irrelevant without homeland security. The real question is not who answers the phone at 3 a.m. It is “Who will keep it from ringing?”

Great letter Thomas, although it is possible to improve the economy and deal with evil at the same time.
And as far as health care, government just needs to get out of the way.
And thankfully we have had a leader who, though making mistakes, has had the courage and patience to make the necessary commitments. And of course thanks to our great military for carrying out those commitments.
Thankyou.

noting against their honor and courage by any stretch, my grandfather served in combat in the South Pacific theater.
At the end of the day, Japan threw in the towel after we whipped that a$$ wiht Fat Man and Little Boy. We are not cashing down those responsible, we are trying to mandate government and allowing the Iraqis to have a free ride. Our obligation is AMERICAN CITIZENS not being the global police.
One of the high level INS management was busted for selling fake docs to people, you know what they did to punish him? Nothing.

"The terrorists that were blamed were here legally and our very own INS and government did nothing to track them down after their visas expired."

Not all of them were here legally. A few did not have proper paperwork, but were let in any way.

"If I were Presdient, there would be no ground troops, there would be some Stealth Bomber action, it worked on Japan and will work on these insane muslim fanatics."

Our troops who fought and died on Iwo Jim, Okinawa, and elsewhere in the Pacific would be surprised to learn that.

Thos ewho attacked have not been defeated because we are not chasing those that attacked us. The terrorists that were blamed were here legally and our very own INS and government did nothing to track them down after their visas expired. This pretty much SBP wihtin our government, they are too busy chasing down debtors and pot smokers. If I were Presdient, there would be no ground troops, there would be some Stealth Bomber action, it worked on Japan and will work on these insane muslim fanatics. Is really about terrorism or about playing cowboy? I start to wonder when knucklehead CIC does not listen to those that are combat experienced (he is not). of course Obama sems to think he is some war strategist because he is an Ivy League elitist and lawyer. We are in dep and to get out will take careful decisons and expedience. I say make Iraqis step up and stand on their own. It will never be like it is here. Next make them pay us back in oil. This is where the Bush administrationis wrong, they DO owe us, we simply forgave their debt. Seems crazy, we spend millions chasing down $8/hr working American men but forgive a foreign nation for billions of dollars.
