Thank you, Kay Barnes

Thank you, former Mayor Kay Barnes, for getting the Sprint Center built and putting Kansas City back on the collegiate basketball map and entertainment circuit. Everyone talks about how much money these events bring into the city, which is indeed important. But it also puts our name on the nightly news.

Is the Sprint Center perfect? No. The escalators are narrow, the seats aren't wide enough, and you shouldn't sit upstairs if you have vertigo.

But Barnes was able to do what other mayors could not. She overcame insistence of "my design, my location" from other city leaders. Barnes showed me three traits: consensus building, ability to compromise and good judgment.

Wish her luck in her run for Congress. Heaven knows something needs to be built there!

Mr Tira is kidding right..??? He is right...??? I mean, to hold her in as high a regard as he does is enough to make any true blue Democrat convert to something else. It's bad enough that I have to pay the 1% tax for the joy of driving thru the pot-holed streets to work within the city limits.

With all of the corruption and mismanagement that the KCMO taxpayers have to endure because of her I'm as happy as a pig in mud that I chose to live just outside of her jurisdiction. I can't feel sorry enough for the folks who either didn't have a choice, or now realize they made the wrong decision.

Yeah, her judgement to make sure the majority of the contract and revenue went to out of State contractors.
Mortenson is based out of MN and her husband has some direct connection to them.
She was a crooked as they come.

At least now Kay can help ignore national problems instead of local ones in her quest for statues in rich neighborhoods and back door deals.
