Airick West good for board

I concur with Steve Penn’s column on the election of Airick West to the Kansas City school board (4/12, Local, “School board gets a new, young voice”).

I attended a meeting last fall to gather ideas on metropolitan-area mass transportation. Mr. West was the moderator of that meeting. I was very impressed with his organizational skills in that meeting. He maintained a calm presence, allowing each person a chance to speak on each topic. He was pleasant and polite to everyone. The meeting moved at a good pace, ending on time, with all topics being covered.

I can foresee only good things for the school board with a person like Mr. West in its midst. He can certainly see all sides of an issue and has the calm demeanor to work with the diverse members of the school board. I wish the best for the board and Mr. West.
