Executions for rape
When will our society give up the “eye for an eye” bronze-age biblical distribution of justice (5/7, Opinion, “Pro-con: Should the death penalty be expanded to include persons who rape children?”)? It has been shown that revenge justice only causes more revenge.
The better approach would be investigating why our society perpetuates this behavior. I suppose it is just easier to kill those who don’t fit into our worldview.
The time to end the killing of criminals is long past due. If we as Americans want to keep our quickly deteriorating superpower leadership role, we should maybe begin acting like a grown-up nation.

Slipery slope.. We execute for non-murders (no matter the extreme of crime) we will start elminating the prison overcrowded problem.

The single most unreliable testimony is "eye witness". Bunches of people convicted of rape have been shown to be innocent via DNA testing. This should worry us all.
"Oops, sorry" just doesn't help once an innocent man has been executed.
