Letter writers Sarah Cool (5/24) and Rita D. Pearce (5/26) are concerned about homeless men being removed from their camps in the Northland (5/19, A-1). Ms. Pearce says that “in her experience” these men are not a threat to public safety. How does she know? She states that many of them have mental problems, which can lead to substance abuse. Would she want these people living on her property if she had children or grandchildren who played where there may be a “camp?”
Ms. Cool, no, we do not think all homeless people are going to burglarize us, molest our children and wreak havoc in our neighborhoods, but one could. Do you want your house to be broken into or something to happen to your child or a neighbor’s child? These men are being removed from private property where they have set up “house.”
Ms. Cool, have you thought of rallying authorities, friends and neighbors to help start a shelter and a soup kitchen in Liberty? How many homeless people have you invited in for a meal “to get to know them,” and how big is the camp you have offered in your yard?

There are homeless that should not be and there are many that CHOOSE to be.
How many men's shelters do they have? Few to none.
If a homeless person can afford cigarettes, liquor and/or drugs, then I have no sympathy for them. I have on many occasions offered to buy lunch for a "homeless, need food", I have yet to have one take me up on it. I am more than willing to buy some food for someone in need of a meal. Nothing worse than giving them money and see then walk in and buy vices. We give millions overseas to "help' with obligations that are not ours yet can not offer those that want off the streets much direction? There will always be sloth, the Democrats will see to that but we do need to do a better job of getting those that want to turn it around, the opportunity to do so.
Ladies and gentlemen stay married, stay employed (there are plenty of jobs available if you just go and find one), learn to prioritize your earnings (it's called budgeting).

As I said earlier on this topic, the whole article made the Homeless sound like dangerous rodents. That was my problem with the article. Then comes the police that would shew them away and then trash the few belongings they do have.
Just remember this point; one of those people that are getting shewed away could have been your best friend in elementary or high school that just fell into the cycle and needs a hand up.

A lot of sexual predators are driven to homelessness because they cant get a job or live anywhere.
