I would like to express my enthusiasm for our local theater programs. I recently saw both “The Drowsy Chaperone” at Starlight Theatre and “Othello” at Shakespeare in the Park. Both were outstanding productions that my children and I enjoyed.
Although theatergoers can no longer see “Drowsy,” there is still time to see “Othello,” which closes July 6. Parents should not hesitate to take children to see this Shakespeare play. My 10-year-old viewed the Paul Mesner puppet production before the show, which helped her follow the story and have a pretty clear understanding of the major themes. What a great opportunity for everyone to enjoy and learn from this great work.
Kudos to all who bring great theater to our area!

Thank you Denise for sharing your comments. Those who have seen Shakespeare in the Park. Although premture, plans are underway for an Ampitheater in Ironwoods Park in Leawood. This shell would protect the performers and hopefully a portion of the audience. It will become a premier venue for musicals, dancing, classical music, etc. Hopefully, rock cocnerts will be excluded. Right now entrance if free & we hope it will remain that way with cororate sponsors.
