A life lesson in tire-changing

Two teenage boys, Jim and Andrew, want to thank a homeowner who came to their aid at 11 p.m. on a recent Saturday night near Cool Crest in Independence.

Jim’s car had hit a rock and swerved into a curb, bursting the tire and bending the wheel. They did not know how to change this tire, so they knocked on a nearby door for help.

The gentleman who lived there helped and more. He gave them step-by-step instructions on how to change the tire, the dangers, placing rocks behind the tire to keep the car from rolling, how to find the spot to put the jack, and on and on and on.

He was a great teacher to these two, and it is greatly appreciated by them. They will carry the information he imparted to them for the rest of their lives. His request was to help someone else in need in the future.

Thanks to a very great individual who went out of his way to help. You are a hero. Thank you, too, from a grateful mom.
