Who’s Bush to bash China?

I’ve read that President Bush will be chastising the Chinese for their human rights abuses (8/7, A-13). This from the man who attacked another country under false pretenses, approved the detention of prisoners for the purposes of illegal torture, approved the use of illegal torture himself, held people in prison without charge or hope of release, conducted staged press conferences and employed media personalities to propagandize the public, prescreens audiences in order to avoid protest, restricts protesters to remote sites so they cannot be heard, and on and on.

I believe the president will look into the hearts of the anti-democratic thugs who rule China and see men of like character.

The difference of course, D.A., is that you and probably your immediate family just ceased to exist for criticizing the President had you been in China. And don't tell me thats just around the corner, here.

Kate

Surely this isn’t the same man we’ve seen on TV. We’d like to think he has better judgment.

If "D" stands for dumb and "A" stands for what C40 thinks it does, then Christian perfectly completes the thought.

But, you already knew that.

"there is no way his character can be compared with the regime that runs the "Peoples" Republic. Thats just wrong."

True. Bush's regime is thankfully near a close. Now, it's just a question of damage control before we can begin rehabilitating our tarnished image and resurrecting our commitment to American ideals and the rule of law.

Wow, agreement all around. I hang my hat in this corner as well.

Thanks Chris, I needed that laugh! Good one!

It's clear that the "D" stands for Dumb; let's just hope that "A" doesn't stand for what we think it does.

Good morning Big Bear,

The most amazing thing about this letter is that its just three sentences.

I disagree with our President on several things, but there is no way his character can be compared with the regime that runs the "Peoples" Republic. Thats just wrong.

"conducted staged press conferences and employed media personalities to propagandize the public, prescreens audiences in order to avoid protest, restricts protesters to remote sites so they cannot be heard, and on and on."

And the national politician who doesn't do this would be? This is standard fare for every president, much of it dictated by the secret service. Idiot, if you can't tell the difference, move to China for a while. Maybe then you can figure it out.
