Green jobs mean green money

Obviously, many people are basing their vote on Barack Obama and John McCain’s ideas for our economy. What baffles me is we have solutions to not only this problem, but the biggest issue facing our world: global warming.

Global warming is happening in everyone’s backyard, and our leaders could be doing something to not only stop it, but to stop the economic crisis also.

According to a report recently released by the Center for American Progress and the University of Massachusetts-Amherst, in Kansas alone we have the potential to create more than 19,000 jobs in two years and more than 2 million jobs nationwide. If I were a presidential candidate, people couldn’t stop me from talking about green-collar jobs.

If we are going to eliminate both the moral and monetary debt we are handing our children, our current and future leadership must match the dedication that individual citizens are already committed to making.

Once again the attacks are way off base good to see that. Good luck to the green jobs at least they will be jobs people can be proud of. Too bad it will take tax money to get them going. Argh taxes need I say more.

The first step in solving global warming will be to get Al Gore to hold his breath. If you look where Gore has invested his money you'll see he is doing no more than a Wall Street hedge fund talking his book.

While our pollution certainly isn't a good thing and incentives should be created to lessen it (not penalties, but incentives), the world goes through climate changes due to causes far beyond our control. Unless, of course, you've come up with a way to control sun spot activity... You should read the book "The Deniers."

My guess is that 19,000 figure does not include the jobs being destroyed or not created by redirecting capital (human and monetary) away from other projects to these projects that you deem worthy of our efforts. The reality is that the government can not create jobs, only the private sector can.

Hitler "created" alot of jobs with his war machine but heavy taxation and economic controls killed as many jobs and, as a result, the standard of living for the German public did not increase.

By the way, you should review NASA's data on temperatures in the US. Manmade or not, global warming has not affected us at all.

What the heck is a green collar job? Could it be carrying boulders by hand instead of using a bulldozer?
