Decorating on a ‘budget?’

Just wanted to give you my thoughts about the article “Holiday decorating on a budget” (12/7, House + Home). Are you kidding me?

In today’s dire economic circumstances, with people losing their jobs, how can someone suggest that snow globes for $100 or sets of mercury glass ornaments for $29 to $49 are ways to “decorate on a budget?”

Mary,

I have a feeling your tune (and the Kansas City Star's) will change about 11:15 a.m. CST on January 20, 2009.

I'll bet there will be no more doom and gloom stories and any mention of bad economic news will be swept away. Everything will be coming up roses once B Hussein Obama is President.

WHat are today's economic circumstances, Mary? Explain exactly what areas are affecting you and by how much. This economic fiasco is more media hype than anything else. If it is so bad, you would think Friday and Saturday nightlife would be entirely dead, streets abandoned. Quite the opposite, waiting lists and packed casinos hardly represents economic woes.
People pick and choose what is important. That Obama voters saying "Yeah, economic be bad over the last 8 years" while they sut at boat throwing the dice at $10-20 a whack.
