We want our children to be polite, considerate and compassionate to those different from our group. If so, why is “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” so popular? The words are terrible.
Because Rudolph was different from his peers, “they never let poor Rudolph join in any reindeer games.” When Santa chose Rudolph, “all of the reindeer loved him.”
Some talented parent should rewrite the words. Until then, we should all avoid that song because it’s different from the other Christmas songs.
See, I learned that from the song. Bah humbug!

I figure if "they" are going to re-write, somehow incorporate the annointed one in the tune, surely he can fix all the ills of a fictional Christmas story. What about all the poor reindeer? What about all the gay reindeer, where's the justice?

This letter can not be for real. Seriously. Darrell, get a life.

JJ, I agree, and I never liked the Island of Misfit Toys part of the story.
They took a two-minute song and made it into a one-hour show - even when I was young, I thought it was boring.

skrumer - did you watch the classic Rudolph show every year growing up? Now that I watch it with my son, Santa comes off as an egotistical, bigoted blowhard - hardly a jolly old elf.

Obviously, Mr. Apple has a couple of bites missing because this drivel has fallen from the politically correct tree.
The entire song is about how Rudolph was treated and how he felt about it. It wasn't until Santa showed the other reindeer how all are unique and special in their own right and how their talents allow for the betterment of all that they changed their minds.
Please Mr. Apple, next time you have one of those politically correct thoughts, rethink it.
