Conflict in Gaza

Israel has shown unbelievable restraint for far too long. I’m delighted to see them finally going into Gaza to stop the horrors of those determined to wipe out an entire “race” of people. Hitler had the same goal. They deserve the same end that Hitler had. Genocide in any of its ugly forms is still genocide.

I hope the new regime will still support our old democratic friends in Israel. Israel is the only democratic form of government in that part of the world.

Israel should reclaim Gaza in its entirety. War is hell. So who started this?

When I was in grammar school, there were a couple of bullies who hit us smaller kids. I enlisted the biggest boy in the class to “take up” for me. Recess became pleasant.

The same thing is happening in Israel. Hamas fires indiscriminate rockets at Israel. Israel retaliates with overwhelming force, in accordance with the principle of mass.

War is when one entity tries to force another entity to submit. To understand how Israel responded, consult Clint Eastwood or John Wayne.

what should we expect from someone who starts out "blah blah blah"? I was just looking for clarity in a stupid remark you made.

Something tells me you are another of the snipers here who needed a new name.

Casady,

Does that comment from unfettered mean he is "at least number four"?

No, that comment. I'll repeat - wow solomon, quite a leap there. But you can't help it, it is what you do.

solomon

The history of the settlements is a leap? My point of posting that is when more immigrants came the local population was pushed out, a story repeated from our own history.

We won't agree here Sammy, as you are pro Israel and I don't condone killings by either side.

Sammy,

I had a call come in and couldn't finish my post. It did not take long to find though, (about 2 minutes), the answer to the question about the land(settlements). Sounds like a story most Americans should be familiar with.

solomon

Sammy,

I asked your opinion, I don't consider this an argument. Who else should we be arming in the face of adversity?

As far as would I be ok with their actions if my tax dollars weren't being used, I would regret every death and not be responsible for any of them. As it is the blood is on our hands.

More from the big game

I guess now they"re using trucks with UN painted in huge letters as shields.

Sammy

"And Sammy, before I go, who else is our responsibility to protect, because the death tolls in nations around the earth dwarf those in the nation of Israel?" -Sol

Sorry. Not sure how that ties to my question.

So, you'd be okay with Israel's actions as long as the U.S. didn't provide aid?

What about Hamas? Do you think their attacks are justified since they weren't asked permission? Please educate me. Did they ask permission to take control of the land from the previous inhabitants? Was control of Israel taken by force?

solomon

Casady,

Does that comment from unfettered mean he is "at least number four"?

solomon

Sammy,

I value life as the same. Do you consider Israel without blame? They are shooting at each other from congested areas, whether its a suicide bomber or an American welfare bomb. Why is one a human shield and the other a victim? It is pretty clear to anyone with eyes the entire area is a war zone.

Sammy, just so I'm looking at your position clearly, why do the Israelis rate over every other nation under fire such that they deserve our tax money defending them?

Sammy

"Did these dead and wounded have any less right to their lives than an Israeli killed by a Hamas rocket?" -sol

No. Who do you think is responsible for those deaths?

unfettered.sucks

blah blah blah from the usual nutjobs. Nothing to see here folks. Move along. Don't put your hand in near the cage little boy!

Casady

"how many of you don't know American individuals who believe we should just bomb all the Muslims?"

What? Are you kidding Sol? I can name 3 just on this blog site. I really don't think pointing them out is necessary.

solomon

BTW whisperer, Iraq is not a democracy, they wanted Ghazi Yawar as their President and we said "No".

Iraq is an occupied territory of the US imperialist notion and we just opened a 700 million dollar installation to prove it. Might take a year or two, but just wait for the pressure for them to "recognize" Israels right to exist.(that is, if the mid East isn't a crater by then.)

One more thing welfare bomb fans....how many of you don't know American individuals who believe we should just bomb all the Muslims?

solomon

Careful whisperer, its dangerous to remind people of the truth.....and while we're at it, give Disneyworld to the Seminoles, the southeastern part of the US to the Cherokee who did not die on the trail of tears and, ......the list of these things go on and on. We Americans have so much blood on our hands many seem to forget our nation is one we conquered and the weak are long forgotten.

Were the women and children of the native American villages human shields when our armies would go in and kill men, women and children?

whispering_to_kc

"Israel is the only democratic form of government in that part of the world."

And just what's Iraq? Chopped liver?

"Israel should reclaim Gaza in its entirety."

If anyone was to "reclaim" Gaza it should probably be the Egyptians. Or, the Ottomans. Or, the Romans.

John Wayne and Clint Eastwood are directing fire at unarmed UN relief convoys today. Nice work, Harry.

solomon

Sammy,

A human shield question for you. Israel is a nation where the military has a highly visible role. There are armed soldiers and military vehicles pretty much all around, because they are in truth, in a state of war. Every Israeli citizen is a human shield. Personally, I never thought much of the term, as civilians are always killed in war.

Now, consider this article from Yahoo News today

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090108/ap_on_re_mi_ea/eu_red_cross_gaza

Did these dead and wounded have any less right to their lives than an Israeli killed by a Hamas rocket?

solomon

My plea to Mia was looking for civility, which there has been none of between us since he found we don't agree on blacks being discussed without his position of only discussing them negatively. I am narrow minded, I judge people by their stated opinions. i don't hate anyone, for political , religious, sexual orientation or racial reasons.

As far as Israel, whatever was created by guilt after WWII without the endorsement of the locals is not working. I am not willing to see a huge war started for Israels stake, or anybodies else for that matter. I am not for bombs from either side, but am very against my tax money defending people who moved there from their own countries to carve out a nation. Let them defend themselves, they decided to move there.

And Sammy, before I go, who else is our responsibility to protect, because the death tolls in nations around the earth dwarf those in the nation of Israel?

Sammy

So, vv and sol, I just want to be clear. From your POV, the just way to end this conflict is for Israel to dissolve and give control of its land to Palestinians? Is that correct?

Sammy

"Welcome to the New Year, where solomon has vowed to only respond to people who are not more narrow minded than he is." -Sol at 7:38 AM.

"BuddyT,

For some reason, probably..." -Sol at 9:08 AM

Well MNK, I was certain Sol was referring to you in that first post. Congrats on not being more narrow minded than Sol.
