Obama’s stance on abortion

Much has been written about the Lincoln connection to President Obama’s inauguration. Abraham Lincoln said: “Nothing stamped in the divine image and likeness was sent into the world to be trodden on.” Aren’t the most defenseless among us, the innocent unborn, stamped for the pursuit of life?

I fear that Obama will shackle us to a culture of death, enslave us by using our tax money to fund abortion on demand and erase the freedom of conscientious objectors to the procedure. During his campaign appearances, he promised “the first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice act.” FOCA overturns pro-life laws in all 50 states, strips away parental involvement rights and nullifies laws on partial-birth abortions.

Many of us are praying that he does not keep that campaign promise, or else a vast pro-life underground railroad will be set in motion. The Lincoln I’ve studied would be horrified at the civil war we continue to fight against the unmitigated slaughter of future generations because we are selfishly enslaved to “choice.”

I have no idea why Tim Geithner chose not to pay $30,000-plus in taxes, but as the newly appointed Treasury secretary, he apparently thinks that was no big deal.

Well, maybe what’s good for the goose should be good for the gander. I think I will conveniently deduct the same amount from my taxable income. Only, I will have a very definite reason for doing so. I do not want my tax dollars spent overseas (or here, either) for family planning (abortion) purposes.

Hey, Bill Clinton thought it was funny. And it has always seemed to me that the only time somebody else is in somebody's womb it is while an abortion is being performed

Pub 17

Hilarious, just hilarious.

Actually, this is a guy who cuddles up to Babs every night. He might want to rethink that.

Roger Lambert

But keep your ideology out of my womb.

Very emotional, non-substantive. You still have not answered why? What makes them deserving over all the other nations on earth?

putkidsfirst

Tell ya what, Martha and Peggy, if you're against abortion - don't have one.

The C stands for 'choice'. You pro-birthers seem to forget you have a choice as well.

But keep your ideology out of my womb.

I think I quite clearly pointed out that, in my opinion, the UN would do nothing to protect Israel. Without the US it might even sponsor an attack. As I have said before, Israel has a right to exist and we are the only country that will exert itself to defend that right. If you wish to abandon them that is your privilege. For me, I hope that I do not live to see the Country I love and admire sink to that level.

solomon

So Engineer, you have not answered, what makes them worthy of your passion as if they were your fellow citizens? That no one else would protect them is a BS argument, as you leave protecting all of the other nations to the UN. Who protected the rest of the world yesterday? Seems like you don't want to say?

I don't want to be the worlds policeman, why do you want to act as if Israel is more deserving than anyone slse?

Engineer

solomon
That is the UN’s function. If they cannot do their job let's get out. I have stated my stand. If we do not continue to support Israel then we are no longer the US I have served. To feel an obligation does not mean that the one toward which you feel that obligation must have done something for you. You are completely inconsistent. One the one hand you ask what has Israel done for you? On the other you suggest that we should police the entire earth.

solomon

Engineer,

Last night 100s if not 1000s of women were raped, dhildren were forced into warfare and terror was allowed to reign supreme while the world watched. Your putting that responsibility on the UN makes no sense, as it is obvious no one has stepped up to stop it, your sense of dignity should demand we act. No one is attempting to stop it.

The fact is that you did not answer my questions. I aaked what we owed them and what queer connection we have with them that you feel responsible for their existence. What have they ever done that has shown any benefit to America? What is it that makes you feel they are worthy of your tax monies for bombs when you don't want your fellow Americans to have it for peaceful purposes.

I know I expanded on the original, but to say you gave an answer with no reason other than "because" is bullcrap.

Engineer

I answered your question yesterday. Israel has a right to exist. The US seems to be the only country in the world that recognizes that right or at least the only one that is concerned about it. The UN would not lift a finger or turn a page to keep Israel from destruction. If the US abandons Israel then we will have sunk to a status that I would once have thought inconceivable.

solomon

Dear One,

I am going to try and adopt that in full myself. I'm just too darn confrontational for my own good.

Kate

I’ll have to take your word for that. I don’t read most of what’s posted here anymore. I look forward to some people’s comments, but usually I look at the name, glance at a word or two, and move on.

solomon

whaddaya mean "you people"?

We were having a nice conversation here and ButRug came in with insults to us all.

Kate

Can't you people give it even one day's rest.

Pub 17

Once again Rouge I invite you to show up at DAV and tell them what a bunch of whiners they are.

solomon--other than Dolly the Merino he's never had it here, either. STFW?

ButRug,ButRug,RutRug....

There are sniff tests in many parts of our lives. When did it become one that it is unAmerican, non-patriotic or a supporter of terror because a person doesn't care to support Israel. Your Israel is our 51st state, give them our money, their somehow our friend mentality while hating the majority of your fellow taxpayers, (you know, the ones that disagree with you) is ridiculous.

I asked this of Engineer and the Lambert guy yesterday and neither answered. In the face of all the killing, oppression and terror in the world today, what makes them special? What have they done for us, ever?

BTW, your rants are not credible anyway, you said here once you never had sex while in Nam.

BudRog

BTW I make you the same offer Tina B I itch.

Did you and Race Card get your membership checks to Hamas yet. I see they have launched 10 rockets into Israel since the cease fire. Two this morning that landed between two kindergartens.

You should both be very happy.

BudRog

Once again Ammo Humper I urge you to go to Bragg, or Riley, or Leonardwood and tell all those returning Vets how they have killed "hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi citizens". Please let us know when you are going because I want to watch you tell them all that.

BTW did you try and convict the Haditha Six Marines as your hero Murtha did? Have you two apologized to them yet?

JayhawkinMO

Poor Martha has enslaved herself with her own stilted rhetoric. Who would be using Martha's fanciful "vast pro-life underground railroad?" Does she envision pregnant women having to flee because they'll be forced to have an abortion? Martha simply illustrates the hysteria of the pro-birth movement. Oh, FOCA has been buried in committee since the 108th Congress and will never see the light of day. FOCA is just another wedge issue meant to incite the right...

TinaMcG

Well, I'm not on board with using federal funds to pay for abortions anywhere, here or abroad, though I do support choice. That does not make me or anyone else "pro" abortion. And I wouldn't brand Bush with a "pro-life" position, since, as V-V says, he saddled us with two neverending wars that have killed hundreds of thousands of people, most of them innocents. The "collateral" damage in Afghanistan and Iraq far outweigh any enemies we've killed.
