No money for health care?

Why do we always find money for the Defense Department and not for health care protection for all of our citizens, as other industrialized countries in the world manage to do? We’ve spent billions and billions for preemptive war, “Star Wars,” the most advanced technological weapons in the world, nuclear weapons by the thousands, and on and on. As smart and generous as we think we are, some education is needed about priorities for a 21st-century nation.

I’m sick and tired of hearing that there’s no money for protecting all of our citizens from illnesses, disabilities and death while we talk boastfully about exploring Mars and our sophisticated killing machines. I’ve heard these arguments since my childhood, and they are hollow and indefensible.

Let’s be the great “shining city” that we give lip service to.

I have not been provided with a "factual rebuttal" because what I say is exactly what he is doing. The DOD defense budget now includes war costs. It is only 1.4% greater than last year's DOD budget that did not include war costs. If you don't believe this represents a cut in the DED budget, it helps explain how Obama was able to talk his way into the Presidency with promises of the moon.

"Jack, baby, you've got your wish and Obama is cutting the DOD budget. Of course, he is hiding the cuts by including the war costs in the budget."

Eng, I used to have a little faith that you were simply spouting talking points and weren't being deliberately dishonest. However, you've been provided with a factual rebuttal to this more than once, so it's clear now that you are simply lying. I thought you were better than that, but obviously I'm wrong.

"Why do we always find money for the Defense Department and not for health care protection for all of our citizens...?"

...perhaps because protecting the citizenry is an actual responsibility of our government - unlike playing nursemaid to those who refuse to be accountable for their own well-being.

Jack, baby, you've got your wish and Obama is cutting the DOD budget. Of course, he is hiding the cuts by including the war costs in the budget. He is following the policy established by BC in this. In today's troubled world we will see how well this deliberate weakening of our Country will work out.
