Come on, Star. Britney Spears on the cover of your newspaper two days in a row? (4/2, 4/3, A-1). Her tour stop was newsworthy enough for that? Really?
I understand the need to boost readership, but 10-year-old girls do not order subscriptions to The Star.

I was very surprised to see the large picture of Britney Spears in her underwear on the cover of the Local section (4/3). Why not promote some of the many young local musicians who have real talent and don’t need to dress or undress like Britney to get attention?

Our society has really reached a pathetic low when there are enough young fools out there to fill a space as big as the Sprint Center to see someone as idiotic as Britney Spears. And they actually paid big bucks to see her!
Kinda scary.

"Our society has really reached a pathetic low when there are enough young fools out there to fill a space as big as the (enter favorite venue here)to see someone as idiotic as ( ). And they actually paid big bucks to see her/him/them!"
Fill in the blank with:
Elvis
The Beatles
The 1991-2008 Royals
The 2006-2008 Chiefs
Run DMC
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Fergie
Jazz
Opera
The symphony
Ballet
To each their own, There are lots of "fools" out there. So how does it affect you? Oh yeah, it pays the rent so when the performer you like comes to town you can go see them - Fool!

Mrs. Brady,
Thank you so much for saying exactly what so many of us feel about the entertainment industry and those who cover it, and sadly about the culture who wants it. The KCYJ and other groups are the ones who deserve our support and attention.

B.R.I.T.N.E.Y. Ummmmmmm Ok never mind that was creepy!
"... Why not promote some of the many young local musicians who have real talent..."

Oh and dont forget the big opinion article last week on how pornography has confused been with the right to free speech. Could have fooled me with the pictures KC Star ran of Britney.
I sure get a kick out of journalists using the free press to criticize free speech. Talk about biting the hand that feeds.

I get a kick out of the local news outlets sensationalizing everything sex, but then putting a picture of Britney Spears in a near naked outfit all over the Star. It seems the media sells more sex than anyone.

Yeah why is the Star not promoting young local rappers that promote healthy lifestyles. If Britney were black, there would an outrage at anyone complaining about the coverage. Like I said in prevoius rants, according to the media and many politicians, every family in America is broke and scraping nickels to pay fo thier $300,000 house and Range Rover, yet can afford Britney tickets.

Hey in the free market people have the absolute right to select their own entertainment, may it ever be so.

"Her tour stop was newsworthy enough for that?"
Please refer to the previous letter regarding declining readership for a good explanation behind the Britney two-fer.
"And they actually paid big bucks to see her!"
At least you didn't say "hear her". From what I've read, her entire concert is lip-synced so that the requirement to actually sing doesn't get in the way of her gyrations. I guess there's no accounting for taste.
