Democrats in 2010?
Tim Bower (7/5, Letters) writes: "Bring on 2010 elections, I say -- if they are held."
Yes, Mr. Bower, the 2010 elections will be held, for responsible Democrat leadership will be re-elected and bolstered.
That is, unless you like $4-a-gallon gas.

Even IF Obama were to achieve the "biggest tax increase in history" even breaking campaign pledges, it may be better than tax cuts,a conservative's platform, in the face of spending increases, Not a conservative's plank.

In 2010 the reps will gain some seats in the house and senate but the dems will retain control.
The real battle will be in 2012.

There you go-gop bitterness. Have I slept thru the "biggest tax increase in history", gogop? I did some research JUST last nite on the tax provisions benefitting individuals, THIS YEAR ONLY and even forms or details were not available yet. Are you saying there has been a record tax increase legislated? For individuals this year, tax breaks include energy improvements credits, higher personal exemptions and standard deductions( which are customary), higher tuition adjustments, higher writeoffs for 1st time home buyers, to name a few. You do realize that these are higher write-offs and offsets, translating to lower taxes THIS YEAR, right? Wisely, they are not intended to be eternal like some previous cuts, but I'm strictly at a loss as to how we're seeing the historic increase you claim.
If I missed it, please advise. I'll need to make some changes in my tax planning QUICK.
And Hussein, unpatriotic, bloodbath: all charged with emotional frenzy belying a lack of serious consideration of pros and cons. But, hey, you're a member of the patriotic non-Democratic majority, so it is your right. Fortunately, it's the other guy's too.

The Democrat Party is in for a bloodbath. Obama has given us the largest tax increase in history (after promisingtax cuts for everyone under 250,000) and he wants the government to take over health care, which a huge majority in america don't want because unlike Democrats are patriots. WHERE IS THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE HUSSEIN????

2010 might be too soon for a reversal of fortunes for Obama and Co. But I can't imagine that many Democrats are happy with the way his gigantic popularity has evaporated so quickly, and before he really has had a chance to implement his medical and environmental policies. I don't think either of them will make it now.

Why is the Star providing Kee and Arminius with the straight men today?
This guy's as hacked as gogop, just smug NOW rather than bitter.

Michael is a bit confused. If Democrats have their way on cap and tax, we'll look at $4.00 per gallon as the good old days.

So how is the price of gas or any other widget dtermined? Maybe we could have some of that $2.28 a litre gas like in many European countries, hell, throw in the higher income taxation and make a party of it. So Democrats control the gas prices? Hmmm? Then who controls the prices of sneakers? I am sick of window shopping and seeing the price tags of $109 for a pair of "Made in China with Asian Slave Labor" Nikes. Congress should get involved and come up with some 1200 pages of blank documentation to give out Nike stimulus.
