Diary wasn’t meant for public to read

Kansas City elected a mayor who just might have been the best thing to happen in Kansas City’s history, if he were allowed to govern without mundane interference.

Mayor Funkhouser would not knuckle under to the City Council’s demands. He has a helpmate who has his best interests at heart. She stands squarely behind him in every move. She supports him in everything he tries to accomplish. She accepts no salary.

Gloria Squitiro’s diary was never meant to be public knowledge. This diary is her way of handling the public affronts she has encountered. Her diary is a much better way than my way. I never forget a hurt, a slight or a demeaning statement.

Gloria’s diary is private, not public, property. Shame on the people involved in publicizing this diary.

I guess there's at least one person left in KC who buys the line that all of Funk's problems are sombody else's fault.

As to the Gloria's book (and yes, the title she gave it and notes she wrote indicate a book, not a diary), doubts have come up about whether or not it was actually acquired through the discovery phase of the legal proceedings. The original documents don't have a Bates Stamp (a fancy page numering system used for douments produced during discovery), and they're not stamped with a confidential notice (which is also a standard practice court order for diary-type documents produced). Many insiders think the book came to light because it was stored on a city computer, and not because it was on Funk's computer and turned over during discovery.

I hope this is a wake up call for everyone. Do not ever store anything on the computer that you would not show the world. Nothing is safe and the quicker people realize this and safeguard their personal information the better off we are.

A diary stored as a book under the bed at their house would have not been in the warrent, but the diary stored on the laptop because everything with electronic storage was listed.
