KCPD’s new cars

I’m confused, and so too evidently, is Kansas City Police Chief Jim Corwin  (7/1, A1, “Idle police cars fuel furor”).

No properly run business mingles daily operating expenditure budgets with capital expenditure budgets. Saying the budgeted savings in gasoline expenses enabled $1 million to be spent for new cars is crazy. One is operating and the other capital. The two budgets are financed and managed separately.

At issue is the questionable “use it or lose it” budget mentality and the poor asset utilization. Is that car manufacturer’s warranty time clock ticking in the storage barn? The noise must be deafening, and the return on assets is zero. Let’s save the storage and depreciation expense issues for later.

Government mingles whatever it wants to and there os nothing you or I can do about it.
POlice cruisers should all have DVD systems, satellite radio, 22" rims, a 2000W system with kicker comps.

Mike,

You got me itchin' to get down and see the new equipment. R. Heaster at the Star and others in the carmags have underlined the international flavor of the new Buick, but it's STILL all brought together here in the Heart of America by top-of-the-line skilled workers like yourself and those guys and gals out there carrying the weight of mufflers, doors, light assemblies, and FASCIAS to the job. For one, I'm still utterly amazed at the construction of a fascia. I remember the paint process at Leeds (in the good old days when they were produced in-house) and how a "ground coat" preceded the color coat so that electr-statically charged paint would stick to plastic.

Enough shopcrowing. Later!

Mike,

that's a good one...don't limit it to work zones, space them out at places where the speed limit drops 10 miles per hour.....you wouldn't even need dummies.......which is often what's behind the wheel during the high profit times of the month.....

Take them out and park them in work zones to slow the idiots down, you know, just the sight of a crown vic can slow people down,

Please,PLEASE, no transgender, bi-,homo-,hetero-,mono-, discussion.

Aw, heck. I guess I may have asked for it.

Terry is a he.

Dammit Terry is just making sure her 1% contribution to the city coffers is spent wisely. You guys just lighten up.

.....beautiful Johnson County, Kansas.....where justice (or injustice) has a price.....

OP is still in Kansas, right? JoCo?

KCMO is still in Missouri, right? Jackson County?

I'm confused.

"No properly run business mingles daily operating expenditure budgets with capital expenditure budgets."

Well, there's the answer. We're not talking about a business. We're talking about government.
