Make voting easier

I was delighted and enlightened by The Star’s editorial “An ‘aye’ for getting more Americans on voter rolls” (7/6, Opinion). I have long wondered why registering to vote has been such a complicated and confusing issue for many.

Every election we read of all the would-be voters turned away and sent to another location, causing many to become discouraged and sadly give it all up. It needn’t be this way, and I am thrilled to know the issue is being addressed. I hope it will become as automatic as going to the polls and voting, which should encourage many more to participate.

I congratulate Sen. Kit Bond for taking the initiative on this important matter.
