Stop Iran from acquiring nukes
I ask that we do more, immediately, to force Iran’s hand and prevent it from acquiring nuclear technology. Iran is one of the countries most actively promoting, sponsoring and encouraging terrorism. It arms, funds and trains Hamas and Hezbollah terrorists.
We cannot afford to let Iran acquire nuclear weapons. They will either use them on Israel or sell or provide them to others that will.
Iran must be stopped now, before they master the fuel cycle and achieve industrial capacity to enrich uranium.

I have many good recipes for anyone who would like them; my father is a great cook as well as my mother. Cuban and Soul food all wrapped up in one and some of them are healthy lol just some of them.
JoCo great story; I was raised with what I believe to be non ignorance, now when I say that my mother always told me don’t be ignorant when being insulted and don’t be ignorant and insult someone. I often get why can’t the African American Community see that they have it made like someone did us a favor. Well its stories like the kids and the pool that keeps the fire burning and it will never stop.
I sent that link to every black person I new and the subject was “what now” Then I typed below, if we as parents act up then our kids will act up so first we need to teach the kids that prejudice exists and how to deal with it. Then we can work on the solution or at least know that we will move on to be better than Ignorance. So I was turning the table around saying if WE (black people) act civilized the persecutor will see the error of their ways no matter whom or what color they are; they may not change but they also wont get a reaction out of us. Use that in ever day life. Sorry didn’t mean to het to deep.

When I was 2 or 3 laying in my mom's lap on an old KC streetcar, a man got on and , I remember this well, I said, "Mom, that man's face is dirty." Very young "clean" kid's faux pas.
I was educated that day about our wonderfully diverse town, nation, world; but as far as I knew then, I was told by my red-faced Mom that "No son, it's not dirt" and they probably had a conversation while I went back to eyeing the overhead criss-cross of wires.
I'm guessing it may all depend on what we learn early on.

Thanks, Jazz-man,
First for the "tips-on-the-tongue. That marinade sounds not only delicious, but also very tenderizing. My Latina ex did a great tongue (settle down), but I never watched. Boiled in the pot was all I know.
Second, that link should leave me dumbfounded, particularly in the "City of Brotherly Love", but I know that "complexion fear" is still, will always, be out there---WAY out there.

Oh sorry Sol, she sautéed & simmered the tongue in olive oil, fresh squeezed orange juice, lime, lemon, red peppers and spices, ginger and some other stuff until tender. Man it was so good, the next day had it with fresh greens & tomatoes for breakfast.

The best, it was really in a taco but we did have tortillas, it was nice and tender too which is rare depending on who cooks it. The sauce was made by a friend of mines mother whom by the way had a restaurant in San Louis Mexico.
Oh I get it Hash”” lol,
It was just called Green Peace because after a hit I was really peaceful.
Anyway enough about my younger years, I do want you to know I always put my self on the out side looking in and try and understand everyone’s point of view so I try really hard not to be over bearing.

BTW Jazz-man, how was the tongue prepared.....the guy I buy fish from said he prepares tongue for taco's, whereas I've never had it any other way than a sandwich.
[the one I cooked recently turned out edible but bland....I was disappointed]

...uh, different hash JoCo.....although I'm sure we ended up in the old deli on Main pretty often with the munchies.....
Jazz-Man,
the current trend is to do what you just did in your post.....53-79 is of no consequence.....our relationship with Iran is only pertinent to some folks from 79-present. i agree this has been enjoyable....I'm unhappy that EL went bye-bye on us......EL takes to take religious things personally and I don't want him/her to be offended by my saying what I do. Hope EL is listening!

I had cow tongue the other night, so good, haven’t eaten hash since the 70’s
Ok so I have a better understanding of the people, but was not our part in bringing them to power not having a relationship? Not a good one but it was one.
1953, America played a part in a Coup that broght into power or reinstated the Shah of Iran
reinstated as the Shah of Iran.
79 hostage crisis and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini a even worse regimen. We should have taken them out at least my point of view.
400 some odd days later they relaease the hostages and we decide several year later than that to sell arms to Iran as a way of raising funds for anti-Communist fighters .
Jump all the way to 2003 and we aid them in the big aftermath of the earthquack.
Jump to 2005 and Iran elects Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, whom US knew was apart of a terrorist group and as a young man fought to annihilate America. What could we have done about that, I don’t know but we surely shouldn’t be surprised at the out come of his regime.
Just wanted to out line what I was talking about as far as a relationship. Good conversation Sol.

If I oppress my people and you support me in doing so you are not a friend of my people. That has been the norm for policy of Western interests in the Middle east for the past 90 years.
When I came home and went to college in the early 70s I had a number of guys i hung out with from Lebanon, Turkey,Iran and Jordan. We share a mutual interest in martial arts, hash and world affairs. By no means an expert, for the past thirty some years the history of the region has been of keen interest to me. I don't agree with the gov't in Iran, but it's plain to see how we in part brought them to power. Lebanon? We shelled them before and after the bombing of the Marine barracks, so was the bombing an act of terrorist aggression.(I consider it an act of war that cost the lives of the soldiers we had their for no clear purpose). What I'm saying is that as hard as we want to believe it some of the things we face we face because of our actions, be they imperialistic, religious, political or capitalist.

Let me rephrase the first part, we or at least I feel I am right based off fact I believe in or have studied when it comes to history. I have misquoted a couple of time on here so I know I am not right all the time which is why I either ask questions or study up on a subject.
Posted by: Jazz-Man | Jul 9, 2009 11:04:46 AM
I understand Sol I really do, You feel you are right, I feel I am right about certain things so there will never be common ground. I take it for what it is and (not that you do all the time) I get insulted as a whack job or something but I have never said those that don’t believe in my faith are crazy or anything of the sort. As a matter of fact I was coming from a fact point of view on the US & Iranian relations over the last umpteen years but somehow it was taken as if I was saying something different. But any way I will defend until the end what I believe as far as what God represents anything else I will research and if I’m proven wrong then I can accept that but I don’t go into a topic with our proof weather its my faith that you may not believe in or world history that has nothing to do with religion.
So now explain the US and Iranian relationship that you say they never had. If you are narrowing it down to a relationship with the people I may understand but with the government then yes there was one. Like I said maybe I missed something.

j-friend,
Almost all of my posts are typed calmly and with observation and opinion rather than emotion. (there are a few folks who get me going) I'll discuss the middle east because I have no emotional connection to it or its prople. I will discuss Christianily with no emotion because it is something I don't believe don't don't mind if you do. i don't discuss Dems or Reps in these daily ping pong matches here because I thinks both sides of the aisle suck big time.
I don't feel you are responsible for any of the problems of the world, but if your position is coming from a Christian slant be prepared to speak for them on all issues, as your belief is total, right?

Still can’t figure out what you are talking about!!
Sol you act like I am personally responsible for all of this, I am just stating what’s going on, I don’t condone the US or any other country blindsiding another for their gain. I tired to not bring God into this but you did it so it’s fair game now. Yes Iran was once a powerful ally to the US but we saw it as a chance to gain something, so no matter how you see it US did befriend/trickery Iran. You mentioned plenty but I never said a country doesn’t have the right to defend its self against threat.
Posted by: Jazz-Man | Jul 9, 2009 10:06:45 AM
....you miss the obvious in your search to have me say something that I'm not.....
There has never been a time when the United States has been a friend to the Iranian people or a democratically elected Iranian gov't. how is that so hard to understand for you big guy. The Iranian people are good Muslim people, true, but while we supported Israel in their quest for democracy because it suited us we supported a regime so cruel and despotic it led to the past thirty years of Iranian policy and statesmanship.
So these are the rules as you see fit, right?
If you are an ally of the United States you can thumb your nose at nuclear weapon treaties. If you are too strong for us to object you are likewise entitled to have them. If you are not a threat to us but to our friends who have them we'll bomb you to keep you from having them. The people who would arm Iran to defend themselves from the US and Israel are evil, as Iran has no right to self defense.
Oh yeah, and you can always use the God of Love to justify it.........
Did i attribute anything to you that you haven't said in this three day boogie.
Posted by: solomon | Jul 9, 2009 9:47:03 AM
"Our gov't has never been a friend to the Iranian people or any elected gov't in their history, and yet you see them as your enemy" Sol....
I don’t get it, the Iranian people most of them are good Muslium people, it’s the dictator’s government that persuades others to be uncouth. Everything you said doesn’t change anything; the relationships between all mentioned either happened at one time and still has back to them or will eventually become a union.
Maybe I missed something!

Don't see what this letter has to do with Liberals or a crisis but I guess it was just a hanging curve-ball that after two days was just irresistable, huh Dan?
