As Sarah Palin wilts under the heat of scrutiny
of her administration as governor of Alaska, I shudder to imagine how she would
have handled the pressure of being vice president of the United States. More
and more, I am beginning to feel that in the last national election, the
American people got it right.

Can we get past Obama first and hopefuly we dont have to deal with Palin

"When she stepped on the national stage, she was hit with every unjust smear the far-left could imagine."
Not sure "Far" belongs as a modifier to "Left" in this instance. Surely The Atlantic Monthly, CBS, and MSNBC (among others) are mainstream liberal media outlets. So, to rephrase, "When [Palin] stepped on the national stage, she was hit with every unjust smear the Left could imagine."
My personal favorite (among others) was: Palin is not a Woman, She's a Republican.
Hope and Change indeed...

"I get the impression that you and your fellow Palin haters are effeminate and liberal (is that redundant?) men who have serious issues with their own inadequacies."
Nice... If you don't like her (or agree with me), you must be a girly-man. I'd say that line belongs with the "Hitler Rule" and automatically means you lose the argument.
"That fact alone tells us all we need to know about you Palinbots and The One. Anyone who criticizes her in any way must immediately be smeared as "hateful" and "afraid."
Funny thing, Jim. The exact same sarcasm you use has been used (almost verbatim) as sarcasm by those who are defending their criticism of Obama. I'm not saying that either is right, but if you were to substitute the name "Obama" for "Palin" in your statement, I'm sure you could find dozens of past examples of it being used on this board alone.
And now to the Palin issue. When she stepped on the national stage, she was hit with every unjust smear the far-left could imagine. After the initial fear wore off (and after a few less-than-stellar performances on her part), the criticism seemed to become much more focused on her actual abilities (or lack thereof) and less on the stupid crap that accompanied her introduction.
What I wonder is, who cares? She only seems to attract extreme loyalty from the far-right base, and our political climate seems to be moving towards the middle. I'd guess the Republicans will choose a much more moderate candidate than she is in 2012, and she'll be the answer to a political trivia question.

"jeanette already called you on that one."
Really? Let's see what jeanette said:
"Seems to me if she was quit because the media was mean to her, she would have quit a long time before now. I don't think many people could have handled the scrutiny she was under for so long.
And if I remember correctly, all the ethics charges against her were dismissed. Although I'm sure that won't mean anything to the Palin-haters."
I see no reference to me or what I said in that comment. Although jeanette is factually wrong (not all of the ethics charges against Palin have been dismissed), that particular part doesn't appear to be aimed at me.
Jeanette refers to "Palin haters," which from what I've seen on here applies to anyone who dares to question The One in any way.
You said that I've engaged in lies and smears about Palin, yet you can't come up with any. It's not surprising, given all the big talk we hear from you with nothing to back it up.

The comments about Palin's children are a new low, IMHO. Letterman going on about either her 14 or 18 year old daughter getting either raped or impregnated by either A Rod or Spitzer was unique. The Atlantic Monthly going on and on and on about how Trig Palin wasn't really her son but was Bristol's, without any basis in fact. And just the general tone of the attacks against her. It's 99.9 percent personal in a very hateful way. She brings out the crazy in a largely already crazy polity.
It's also valid to point out her qualification vis-a-vis an actual VP like Biden vs. her qualifications against some Platonic ideal. So far, Biden has been a gaff-machine, which was not that hard to foresee a year ago. Would Palin be worse than Biden? It's hard to see how she could be.

Arminius,
The topic of this letter is that Palin was not qualified to be VP. In response we've seen personal attacks, attacks on Obama and attacks on Biden. Any reasonable debate of this letter would be a firm expression of why she is the best choice to become the next President.
But then, you never were one for reasonable debate.

"When you "criticism" includes lies and disproven smears, I think it's reasonable to conclude that you hate the woman."
Please list the specific "lies and smears" I've posted about Palin. Otherwise, admit you are making this up.
And please, don't tell us about hatred. Your posts are regularly full of hatred and vitriol and personal smears, usually in a half-assed attempt to cover up the fact that you don't have any actual facts to back up your case.

solomon:
"Has anyone made a statement here yet as to why they think out of 300 million of us Sarah Palin should be the next President of the United States?"
If that were the topic of the LOE, someone probably would have made such a statement.

Jim:
"Anyone who criticizes her in any way must immediately be smeared as "hateful" and "afraid.""
When you "criticism" includes lies and disproven smears, I think it's reasonable to conclude that you hate the woman. Perhaps you should spend more time building yourself up and less time trying to tear others down. You look pathetic.

"And you are such a he-man Armi. You didn;t even have the guts to meet me when I politely extended you an invitation to meet me for a beer you wuss. Real tough guy, huh?"
That's real tough talk, Casady, since you refused me the common courtesy of sharing your actual name with me so I would know whom I was meeting. I'm not going to drive 40 or so miles to a bar unless I know exactly whom I am going to have a beer with.
I served in the Marines, so I think it goes without saying that I don't lack the guts to meet with some liberal in Johnson County.

Has anyone made a statement here yet as to why they think out of 300 million of us Sarah Palin should be the next President of the United States? What makes you want her as your leader? Please answer without comparing her to anyone else............

Another pathetic Palinbot retort. You guys are on auto-pilot. You can't defend her utter lack of seriousness and her failure as a governor, so you attack those who point these things out. That fact alone tells us all we need to know about you Palinbots and The One. Anyone who criticizes her in any way must immediately be smeared as "hateful" and "afraid." Oh and now we have "effeminate." Thanks for the substance-free laugh.

"Anyone who brings up her dishonesty, questionable ethics or lackluster governing is obviously full of hate and very, very afraid of her."

Poor Sarah quit her job to make millions of dollars; Boo Hoo! She doing her and hopefully she doesn’t try and run for President.
Posted by: Keith Williams3 | July 14, 2009 at 10:02 AM
Seems to me if she was quit because the media was mean to her, she would have quit a long time before now. I don't think many people could have handled the scrutiny she was under for so long.

Can anybody really still want such an easily victimized crybaby ("The media's mean to me, I quit!") running the free world?
Posted by: HC Brando | July 14, 2009 at 09:46 AM
I see the Palinbots are out in force again today. Must not allow criticism of The One! She is infallible!
Anyone who brings up her dishonesty, questionable ethics or lackluster governing is obviously full of hate and very, very afraid of her.
Right.
