You can’t hurry health-care reform

Health care in America is a very important issue. It is also complex, and it affects all of us.

It seems to me that any issue that is very important, complex and has an impact on all Americans deserves careful and thoughtful study, analysis and debate. Rushing through legislation on a very important, complex issue that affects us all is irresponsible. The resulting legislation will be ridiculously and ruinously expensive, the programs will not meet their stated goals, and the legislation will only make the problem bigger. Rushing guarantees failure.

Over the last 12 months we have fallen for the cries for urgency in dealing the banking system, the energy crisis and the economy. Congress hurriedly passed legislation no one read, with no public debate. There have been no results.

The only value in rushing is that Congress does not have to listen to the people. Congress should follow doctors in pledging to “First, do no harm.”

"Actually, the McCaskill earpiece episode only proves she can hit any pitch out of the park."

Or jump into the gutter.

So you're suggesting Romney's people flip off their constituents, too.

Actually, the McCaskill earpiece episode only proves she can hit any pitch out of the park.

Romney threw her a spitball and McCaskill spanked it out over his head.

She does Missouri proud but I wouldn't expect anyone from Brownback/Roberts-land to agree.

"... I remember McCaskill saying that she spit on an earpiece before handing it off to Romney. Makes me wonder if her staff is just as classy. ..."

You might "remember" only the part of the story you care to use and conveniently forget the remainder?

******

UPDATE: Romney spokesman Eric Fehrnstrom emails: "You should have seen what she did to the chair."

UPDATE: McCaskill spokeswoman Maria Speiser says the exchange began when Romney said, "You don't have an ear infection, do you?" and that McCaskill was joking back in response.

Classy? Indeed. So, Ms. Manners, what do you "remember" McCaskill also did to the chair?

"I am not saying that the Senator's people did not do those things, but you have to say that there is no proof they did flip off anyone."

Yeah, but I remember McCaskill saying that she spit on an earpiece before handing it off to Romney. Makes me wonder if her staff is just as classy.

Kate sez: "Don’t bother contacting Claire McCaskell’s office about it. When they want her constituents’ opinions, they’ll let ‘em know."

Yet even "Kate's" blogger source said: "A staff member opened the door for the police and said they were being threatened. The staff member took some notes from a few protesters while the police were there and said she'd pass them on to Senator McCaskill."

FOX triggered the last "grass roots" tea bagger demonstrations. This fresh round of weaker "protests" seems to be coordinated for several spots around the nation. Who set the date for these "grass roots" protests this time? WorldNutDaily or FreeRepublic?

Don't any of the tea-baggers get any exercise. Most are shockingly ... porcine.

The latest blog comment: "It looks like your days are numbered, Ms McCaskill. You should be ashamed of yourself the way that you cow town to your master." - Darryl

Who wants to be known as a "cow towner" to their master, after all?

Kate,
Once someone references a subject and source on Dailykos and Salon then yea, it is fare game to attack the poster as finding sources that cater to his/her belief. Just like when GYCL and Kee both reference nationalreview.

Referencing a bloging website is worse than referencing wikipedia. The site that you gave us was great in proving a point that has not been proved. I am not saying that the Senator's people did not do those things, but you have to say that there is no proof they did flip off anyone. All I did see on that website is that the protesters recorded the cops coming to the office. Wow shocking!

It is hear say catered to be put on a website that was made to slam, as they say "Libtards".

Just as much credit you give the dailykos and salon, I have to say this site has no just as much credit (toward me), now of course this site is bookmarked forever on kee's web browser.

It’s easy play the “gotcha” game with comments to a website. Look through a few stories at HuffPo or Daily Kos and you’ll find plenty to match those left at this site. And it doesn't surprise me that Whispering would try to change the subject in such a manner.

But if that’s your answer to the story, then apparently, you believe it’s acceptable for a U.S. Senator’s office to show their contempt for constituents by making rude gestures and refusing to listen to them. As you can see by the pictures, the people were not carrying threatening signs, they didn’t appear menacing. The story mentions the police being called, but no arrests were made, so obviously the officers didn’t believe any laws were being broken.

If you think people deserve to be treated this way by the men and women they hire to represent them in Washington, well, then you and Chicago politicians have a lot in common.

Sounds like a great website Kate. If you are what you read then I figured you and Kee now have more in common.

Of the 169 comments on the GateWay Pundit's wingnut "story", I'm not going to read many of them but these are some of the "better" ones as far as I got through ... interesting:

1) Cover the back door. Don't let her sneak out. Sidewalk and street entrance to home are public property too. - snewb

2) Down with the muslim soetero not president. - charliegirl

3) 2010 is TOO LATE! You have to act now. 2010 elections will be stolen like the last one was. Wake-up! You will never win another election while the Usurper is still present in the Oval office. IT WON'T HAPPEN. Stop dreaming. Kick the bum out NOW! You will never get another chance than NOW. - Craig

4) Liberals are vermin. I am the Orkin man. - gus

5) Amazing how many fat people are in the crowd. When I say crowd I mean the 25 or so nut jobs who buy into the Tea Party myth - ThumperNM

6) Thumper is a libtard. Libtard is as Libtard does. Liberalism is a disease. Thumper is diseased. - gus

7) Lame little [ThumperNM] asshat. Go play with your Obama doll, child, the grownups are talking. - Aitch748

8) Last night I was listening to the Manning Report and Dr James Manning said that Fox News had recently being bought by a group of Arabs Muslims. I did not check this out... don't know if it is true or a joke, but it would not surprise me at all. - Craig

9) The 0bamamessiah, the Corruptocrats and their Orc and Troll supporters have sown the wind and they are now about to reap the whirlwind. - Nahanni

10) I really hate to sound stupid, but which state is this in?? I have never heard of McCaskill. I am a tea partier from NC. I am so proud of yall where ever you are from. - Bridgett

Sad. You're all so lame.

The Gateway Pundit is a wingnut blog. Yeah, like I really needed to point that out.

"McCaskill's Office Locks Doors, Pulls Blinds, Calls Cops & Forces Obamacare Protesters Off Public Property."

"Local Tea Party patriots held an anti-Obama Care protest at Senator Claire "ACORN" McCaskill’s district offices on Delmar Boulevard today."

"The protest was organized by Americans for Prosperity and the St. Louis Tea Party Coalition."

******

Alternate headline: Tea baggers stage assault on Claire "ACORN" McCaskill's St. Louis office!!

Office staffers refuse to surrender and quietly accept death as 20 morbidly obese conservative protesters waving pitchforks and torches storm office.

A comment taken from the blog entry: "haha .... love that Chucklehead from Mombasa mantra .... transparency. Yes Sir. And what's the other one ... oh yeah ... robust debate. Bugs, bugs ... so many freaking bugs now infest our government. To all who put their boots on the ground, and caused these bugs to scamper. THANK YOU! Elmo"

I'd have done more than flash the bird at Elmo if he showed up at my door "protesting".

Don’t bother contacting Claire McCaskell’s office about it. When they want her constituents’ opinions, they’ll let ‘em know.

“A young man came over to the window, flipped us off with both hands, grinned and pulled down the blinds.”

While I was not too happy with the GOP in the last few years, I am not pleased with this rush on Health Care either.

The simple reason for this is because they want to rush before the 2010 congress elections and the super majority is gone.
