Prairie Village ‘Police Academy’

For a number of years, Prairie Village’s police department has sponsored an annual “Police Academy.” This program is an 11-week course that meets Wednesday evenings for three hours. This program was designed to inform the citizens of Prairie Village and other nearby towns of the various aspects of law enforcement.

By taking this course, we — the “students” — were made aware of some of the technology and techniques that were utilized by the police force and how law enforcement reacted to certain situations in the field. We also learned about the kinds of weapons they used in comparison to the weapons they have encountered on the streets.

For anyone who desires to gain a better understanding of what the police departments have to do to ensure public safety and what dangers the officers face, this is the program for you.
