Remembering reverend

In the fall of 1959 I enrolled in the Dale Carnegie class held at the Town House Hotel in Kansas City, Kan. One of the instructors was a gentleman named Jim Post, the protestant chaplain of the Kansas Penitentiary in Lansing.

The Rev. Post lived in Kansas City, Kan., and I drove him home a few times after class. We became friends during this period, and he invited me to attend a Carnegie class he conducted at the federal prison in Leavenworth — quite an experience.

Until reading the Rev. Post’s obituary in The Star (10/25, National/Local), I had no knowledge of his whereabouts. The Rev. Post was the chaplain depicted in the book and movie “In Cold Blood,” and his part was played by actor Sheldon Allman.
