Don’t make citizens pay for mistake

I read “Millions will have to repay; About 15 million Americans will owe government $250 or $400 after mix-up” (11/17, National/Local). What are they thinking? People out of work, homeless, penniless. Seniors on Social Security and not getting a cost-of-living adjustment in 2010. And the government is going to ask them to repay?

Sure, the stimulus tax break was rushed through legislation without them thinking it through. But is that our fault? Why make citizens pay for another one of the government’s costly mistakes?

"Because citizens voted them in!"

Hey don't worry Sharon don't you remember Obama is going to pay your gas bill and your mortgage payment, just be cool and kick back......

"Why make citizens pay for another one of the government’s costly mistakes?"

Hey Sharon, where do you think "the government" gets the money to pay for their mistakes? Citizens will pay one way or another, meaning your premise is bogus.

“Kust”? Close. Try Just.

Honestly Sharon, while I’m not a real big fan of the “ignorance of the law is no excuse” thing, I’m not feeling sorry for your particular group of "miss informed".

“……..and took money that they knew they did not deserve…..”

Kust say no to blogs and turn the television off.

Wild Man

Calm down Sharon and turn the radio off. Only a small percentage of the people, whose income exceeded the limit and took money that they knew they did not deserve, will have to pay it back.
