Health reform timing

As an independent Kansas Citian, I’m tired of political, party politics. We need true leaders, not followers.

The Star’s article “Health reform timing is concern; Most changes won’t take effect until 2013, but new regulations soon could bring higher costs” (11/16, A1) was right on.

Do we need health care reform and cost controls? Absolutely, but is this the best our legal representatives could muster? Recently, Nancy Pelosi’s House passed a nearly 2,000-page health care bill, HR 3962, by a slim margin.

Unfortunately two of those votes came from Pelosi’s local puppets, Emanuel Cleaver and Dennis Moore. Both representatives voted no on the abortion restriction amendment that limits government health care spending for abortion except for rape, incest and to save the mother’s life.

Reps. Cleaver and Moore, would you please tell us why you voted for this bill?

Dave Helling’s article (11/16) on the looming government health insurance is much like writing about the flawed and dangerous 1960s Corvair by pointing out a minor crack in the tail light lens.

Jayhawkin, as usual you miss the whole point. This is a terrible bill, and quite a few Democrats voted against it as well. that means there is bi-partisan support against the bill not for it!

Roy is practicing selective indignation. He doesn't think House and Senate Republicans are toeing the line set by their party leaders? Give me a break... Oh, Cleaver and Moore perhaps didn't want to tighten controls over abortion beyond those in-place because of the Hyde Amendment.
