Jacqueline Parker (11/12, Voices) finds it insulting that President Obama went to Fort Hood to honor the slain and injured soldiers. As a combat veteran of the Vietnam War, I find her comments insulting.
President Obama is the commander-in-chief of our armed forces, and therefore was exactly where he should have been. Whether you agree or disagree with his policies, it was his duty to be there and he fulfilled his duty. And quite admirably, I might add.

Lee’s Summit

Obama never said he had it bad, in fact he said he was blessed to live the life he had growing up. But back on the topic, Yes Soldiers are not at all compelled to salute t6he president; but you all’s hatred drives you to not salute him versus the respect for his position. I’m sure although many service men donot agree with him they still respect him.

Ted I will not utilize the benefits because I do not need them as of right now.
Hanson, quite the opposite. I am an advocate and agree with the forefathers regarding the 2nd Amend. I guarantee terrorist Hasan would have thought twice if the probability of soldiers or citizens were packing, he would have thought differntly. Of course they will just utilize another method of death and destruction. Gun control does not work, it gives incentive to thugs, criminals, rogue government and terrorists.
Jazz - An honorable soldier holds true to their oath to their COUNTRY not the government or CIC. Obama is projected as this poor ghetto kid that had it so bad. BOTH of his parents had Phds, he was hardly poor unless they elected to be in such position. I do however hold honor that I do not vote based on race.

I don't support most of Obama's policies, but he should have been at Fort Hood as any president. I also took great pride in finding out yesterday that George and Laura Bush visited the day after the shooting as well, with the only stipulation that their presence receive absolutely no media attention. That's classy in my book and putting the focus on where it belonged - with the soldiers.

It seems that he doesn't like the part of our history in which minorities began to gain their rights under the Constitution.'Wildman
Is this what you comprehended from NOMO's post from your convoluted monkey brain?
Every time you write something it breaks a record for stupidity then the unbelievable happens! You write again and break your own record.

So it's good to see the true patriot in NoMo come out. What I think I'm hearing is that if there are parts of our countries history that you don't like then you are anti-American. I think he would have to count himself in the group also. It seems that he doesn't like the part of our history in which minorities began to gain their rights under the Constitution.

Well Kee, it sounds like NMMNG wanted more death at Fort Hood (see "Guns don’t make us safer" posting) so I am surprised you agree with him.

Point in fact every one knows you salute the rank, and not necessarily the person holding the rank.

An honorable soldier would do his duty and when the time was right bail; not cry about saluting. Why did you get out of the military; I didn’t want to salute the commander and chief because I hate him and his wife. WOW!

I think a good number of mid-level officers are agreeing with you NoMo, apparently 0-3's, and 0-4's are getting out early.

I'm glad your not in the military any longer also. Does that also mean that you will not take advantage of the increased VA benifits that Presidnet Obama is securing for vets?

SO YOUNG, SO ANGRY, DAMN THAT RAP MUSIC!

I am just glad I am no longer in the military, I would refuse to salute the socialist loving clown. He only does it to promote himself, he is not genuine. He and his wife hate this country full of wjite slave owning oppressors.
