Protecting insurance industry

In his recent “As I See It” column about the Washington health care debate, Congressman Roy Blunt said, “Missourians want to keep what works and fix what is broken” (11/4, Opinion).

Missouri Democrats could not agree more. Unfortunately, Roy Blunt and the Republicans in Congress aren’t really committed to fixing our broken health insurance system. In their recently-released health care plan, there is nothing that prohibits insurance companies from denying people coverage because of pre-existing conditions or serious illnesses.

Additionally, by all indications, their proposal will increase premiums and undermine employer-provided health care. According to analysis by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office, one of the proposals in the package (H.R. 2607) would increase premiums for 80 percent of small businesses.

While Democrats are proposing real changes, Republicans are looking out for their friends in the insurance industry. Blunt has received nearly $580,000 over the course of his congressional career from insurance industry insiders. This health care plan is another example of Blunt putting corporate special interests before the people of Missouri.

One more not Hanson, you obviously do not have ANY experience in the family court system. Ever wonder why woemn get default custody 97% of the time? You are probably one of those that think DNA proof sets you free. Not the case. Maybe rich welfare deadbeats like you can afford free legal help provided by the State but in family court you are not afforded legal counsel unles you can afford thousands of dollars to find a mediocre attorney that will more often than not do next to nothing. They make a ton of money on the system, therefore are in on the scheme.
Hanson you might want to open your mind up and do som research, you are ignorant to the legal system.

NoMoreMrNiceGuy

Hanson, you continue to deny the facts.
So you are saying the State of Missouri is not guilty even thogh they have been bonafide by the State Auditor.
You seem to be OK with government theft adn stick up for whores and welfare mongers.
A 2 year old sroty that has STILL not been rectified, yet liberal manginas like you continue to lick Obama scroutm and endorse socialism as such. There will be a day that those involved in this pay a huge price for their actions. It's called personal responsiblity.

Funny,
It does not appear you are laying down, but just sitting at the keyboard and bitching. That and using the Ctrl-V key to post a two year old story on every topic you can some way justified. Then ranting about how evil lawyers are in the process, which ironically enough may have helped you from getting screwed by the government or your ex or the 1000's of others that seem to step on your crotch everyday.

I think we know the words to your theme song, "Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I think I'll eat a worm." Grow up, stop whining and blaming others for your misfortune.

NoMoreMrNiceGuy

I want to thank you and Ike Skelton Craig for giving us a bill that tells American Citizens you must buy government care, pay a fine, or go to jail.(Yeah, I know you gave Ike enough cover to he could vote no, we all know what he would do if he was not worried about his sorry butt.)

I thought you guys were the party of "choice". It seems our options are pretty slim for caring for ourselves now.

Smarter Than You

Without realizing it Craig offers in stark relief what a major problem with the Democratic plan is. His first sentence deals with “health care” (the cost of which is the issue) while his solution is about “health insurance.” The problem for most Americans is not with their insurance but the increasing cost of actual care that the Democratic plan fails to address...

The Democrats have offered a plan to provide insurance for 2% by raising $1.2 trillion over ten years to provide six years of service. Now, given the economic successes of Obama’s record deficits and stimulus plan, I can see how a program like this may appeal to the fiscally challenged Missouri Democratic Party.

If it helps, Craig, you may want to look at the Gallup polling from Nov. 13th of this year:

“PRINCETON, NJ -- More Americans now say it is not the federal government's responsibility to make sure all Americans have healthcare coverage (50%) than say it is (47%). This is a first since Gallup began tracking this question, and a significant shift from as recently as three years ago, when two-thirds said ensuring healthcare coverage was the government's responsibility.”

As the Chairman of the Missouri Democratic Party, Mr. Hosmer, you may want to ask yourself what it means when the President and your national leadership have been pushing so hard for this and clearly the polling shows their arguments are having the opposite effect on support for the issue.

Mr. Nice Guy, I know you are not into political correctness, but will you please find another word other than "retard". That word is very offensive to people with developmental disabilities and their families and the people who work hard to support them. It is akin to the N word in the lifes of people with DD.

One more thing Craig, how much did the DNC, Obama, Pelosi and the rest of your deadbeats receieve from trial lawyers?
Maybe you should clean up the corruption and lack of accountability in Jeff City, funny how you all were caught STEALING via Susan Montee, yet you all do nothing about it except make the standard excuses.

NoMoreMrNiceGuy

and auto insurance companies should be forced to charge the same rates for previous DUI, vehicular homicide, consistent speeding and wreckless driving?
Insurance is risk based you retard.
