It is interesting to watch the contrasting strategies the Obama administration utilizes to attempt to achieve their goals in solving problems. With regard to Afghanistan, the go-slow approach is touted because they want to get it right. On the other hand, the full-speed-ahead approach is applied to passage of their health care bill.
Obama sees himself in a no-win situation whatever his decision on Afghanistan. If he adds troops, casualties are certain to escalate. If he withdraws, allowing al-Qaida to conquer the country, he risks another unimpeded attack on the United States, as well as losing face as a world leader.
Regarding passage of the health care bill, it seems to be unimportant to Obama that a go-slow approach be used to get it right. Rather, his mind-set seems to be to get this bill passed immediately to preserve his legacy by giving this country a Canadian or European model of health care.
Never mind that Congress doesn’t have time to read the bill. Just pass it! If it bankrupts the country, so be it.
Glenn L. Audsley

I don't agree on passing the health care bill without reading the bill, and you said it yourslef if it get passed so fast, it will bankrupt the country, this site is an eye opener www.honorinoffice.org

That's the problem, Moral. The health care issue is understood. It's
understood that 2/3's of the people without health coverage are either
illegal aliens or could have coverage but opt to spend their money elsewhere.
It's understood that entitlements become an economic drain and never operate
within their budget. It's understood that the bills currently under consideration do nothing to address the real issue, cost of health care, and will actually increase the cost of health care in the US. It's understood that our President is on a personal vision quest to deliver HIS self-defining legislation without a care as to the efficacy or viability of the program.
It's understood that we have the largest deficit ever. It's understood that our
creditors are nervous about the outlandish deficits this administration has rung
up. It's understood that the majority of Americans view the deficit as a major
issue while slightly more than 1/3 support the Obamacare legislation.
As for Afghanistan, it's understood that Candidate Obama knew exactly what to do,
entered office and did it. It's understood that our soldiers are now dying in record numbers in this conflict. It's understood that Obama has sat on his hands
and done nothing for weeks. It's understood that he has announced he has a plan, but curiously would rather wait until he has a news conference next week to make the announcement instead of immediately acting to support/protect our troops and allay the fears of our military families.

Mr. Audsley has an odd interpretation of the calendar. Congress has been actively debating health care reform for six months, but Obama has been deliberating Afghan stategy for three. Contrast the previous administration's handling of strategy shift in Iraq. In the fall of 2004, anyone who was paying attention knew that staying the course was not a sound position on the Iraq war. President Bush made a course change a full two years later.

Afghanistan is a very dynamic situation. And Afghanistan over there.
Moral City
I kinda think the Healthcare bill would be considered dynamic as well and it's HERE in our face.

Hot Flash of memory, the 9/11 attacks came out of a lawless Afghanistan controlled by the Taliban. Oceans no longer keep American "safe". One could say also MUCOUS that the Bush Administration inherited the terrorist problem from Bill Clinton, given the Cole, Embassy bombings, etc. Lets just solve the problem by killing them on a consistent basis until they realize, "hey this hurts, maybe we had better stop".
A "health care solution" that raises costs, raises taxes, and decreases coverage, slams medicare, insures illegal aliens, and rations care is "nothing to rush forward".

Health care is here at home. Health care has been a developing problem for decades. It's been debated for years in Congress and in the media. Despite the partisan political progaganda, the problem is fairly well understood.
Afghanistan is a very dynamic situation. And Afghanistan over there.
Obama is trying to solve a problem...his way sure, but solve. Afghanistan is plagued with many problems inherited from the previous administration.

My contention is the health care bill required faster movement because it had to work all the way through Congress and be timed for achieving the needed votes and to make it past key people before they really understood the coverage. Also if he can maintain already declining support for the bill he would have something positive(he thinks) to talk about for his State Of The Union Address in the spring.
