You might be an ‘elite’ …

Oh, golly, gee whiz. I’m so excited! As the product of public schools, from a farming background and living in a rural area all of my life, taking my kids to church every Sunday, I thought I was a pretty common, ordinary person.

Imagine my amazement to find that I am now one of the “elites” because I am puzzled that a beauty contestant, who floated around to four colleges in six years until she finally got a journalism degree, somehow thought Katie Couric had ambushed her by asking about personal reading habits. And that was before her rambling speech when she bailed out of her job.

I never thought the likes of Weekly Standard writer Matthew Continetti would elevate little ol’ me from country bumpkin populist to the “elites” just because I can see through the new clothes a slick salesgirl is trying to sell to the emperor (11/22, Opinion, “Pro-Con: Does Sarah Palin’s new book make her a more appealing candidate?”).

Funny, Michelle Obama quit a couple of her six figure (and few) "consulting jobs". Of course she gets a free pass because she has been a vicitm of this mean, oppressive white America. Palin went along with what she was told, they set her up and used her, it's that simple. McCain is a softie anyway.
God culd have run ont he (R) ticket and lost. Obama is the savior.

Other than getting a letter published in the Star, what has RitaLynne Broyles-Greenwood ever accomplsihed in her life?

The letter writer should realize that Gov. Palin is a walking contradiction. She is the heroine of the right wing of the Republican party, but her actions are in stark contast of what they espouse. Personal responsibility? Palin blames the media and the McCain campaign for her own failings. The value of hard work and perseverence. Palin's a quitter. Family values? Who has taken care of the family and especially Trig? From the time he was born until July of this year, both parents worked at least one job. Sara Palin claimed that she would be a voice for parents of children with special needs. Is there any evidence that the Palins have anything to take the necessary steps to improve the life of their son with Down Syndrome?

RitaLynn, you have committed a logical fallacy. It's true that the self-anointed elites hate and fear Sarah, but that does not imply that everyone who hates and fears Sarah is a self-anointed elite. Please think things through before you commit them to print (unless you're a journalist, of course).

“Crib note: the thought of another cult leader in the politics scares the collective.” - The Letter, 12 of 5.

For entirely different reasons, the thought of two cult leaders in politics scares me too.
