Alan Simpson’s comparison of Social Security to a milk cow is both insulting and hypocritical for two reasons.
First, we contribute half the funds through payroll deductions.
Second, he ignores the fact that Congress created its own pension plan, which requires no personal payment and forces the taxpayer to entirely fund it.

There is considerable confusion about how our Social Security system works. A more accurate account of the milk cow analogy would be to say that the 535 members of congress are the ones sucking the milk from our retirement savings.
