Stooges for war

Sens. John McCain and Joe Lieberman, who never saw a war they didn’t like, are at it again. They are criticizing the president’s response to the turmoil in Libya.

By the way, where is the third stooge, Sen. Lindsey Graham?

Libya has oil.

People just don't "get it".

and our country's vested interest in Libya is again what?

Transcript from ABC's "This Week":

JAKE TAPPER: Do you think Libya posed an actual or imminent threat to the United States?

ROBERT GATES, SECRETARY OF DEFENSE: No, no. It was not -- it was not a vital national interest to the United States, but it was an interest and it was an interest for all of the reasons Secretary Clinton talked about(*). The engagement of the Arabs, the engagement of the Europeans, the general humanitarian question that was at stake. There was another piece of this though that certainly was a consideration. You've had revolutions on both the East and the West of Libya.

TAPPER: Egypt and Tunisia.

GATES: Egypt and Tunisia.

(*) SECRETARY OF STATE CLINTON: Just as our allies are helping us in Afghanistan where we bear the disproportionate amount of sacrifice and the cost, we are supporting a mission through NATO that was very much initiated by European requests joined by Arab requests.

True that, LL. Would this country ever vote for a peacenik?

...well gg...I think that Hillary is really the "hawk" on this war...seems like it's spreading all over the middle east and I do agree that Americans have had it with US intervention in every conflict. I think most concern may end up being for Yemen...whose rebellion may make it a taliban & terrorist country.

This is interesting political fodder for the 2012 election...I can't wait until a republican actually runs. McCain and Lieberman are hawks, attacking Obama for being too slow and not nearly enough involved in military action in Libya. Seems to me that this is a common republican refrain, caught up in their definition of being strong on defense. It might be that Americans have had it with US intervention in every conflict. If so, they should keep a close eye on how republican presidential hopefuls address this issue.

...say what you will...but this is the "dems war"...

.......though I hope we're out soon......

Really bad post!
Obama has taken it upon himself to help people, some of whom have already fought against us in Afghanistan and Iraq. We helped the mujahedeen in Afghanistan during their war with the Soviets and they morphed into the Taliban and Al Quaeda and we should all remember that they brought us 9/11/01. We should NOT be involved in Libya at all. Period!
