President Barack Obama appointed Jeffrey Immelt, chief executive officer of General Electric, to head the new jobs-focused panel.
On a recent tour through a local Wal-Mart looking at products manufactured by GE, I found none that were made in America. They were all made in China.
Our teleprompter president loaned $500 million to a company to build cars in Finland. General Motors, which we the taxpayers of America bailed out, is entering into a partnership to develop new electric cars in China.
Now Obama tells American companies to bring their jobs home to America. Talk about lip service. God help us if this man gets elected to a second term.

FOT...Why in the heck do you keep bringing up Michelle Bachman & Sarah Palin...neither are republican candidates...Is this the best you can do?...

I guess STY would like our presidents and congressmen to look as stupid and inept as michele bachman or shrub(Molly Ivin). Michele looks like she in a trance and then utters the dumbest things like "If I were President we wouldn't have an American embassy in Iran." STY do you have some sort of teleprompter phobia?
Posted by: fanoftravel | January 30, 2012 at 10:20 AM
STY...without a teleprompter Obama is "far less than great"? I guess you missed the 2008 debates. I don't believe teleprompters were in use then, and he sure seemed to handle himself pretty well.
Posted by: spuds | January 30, 2012 at 08:33 AM
See if this helps:
It's not the use of a teleprompter itself, the argument (which must have traction given the reaction of the Obama apologists) is that Obama on a teleprompter is great...without it he's something far less. Every time someone sees Obama using the prompter it's becoming a reminder that speaking ability was his great qualification; not legislation, budgeting or leadership. It gets people to think about the reality of his Presidency vs. his image when orating.

My point also GG thanks!!

Agree Spuds. Also, Sarah Palin is dragged into this because the reason she used crib notes is because the tea party had been ragging so hard on the teleprompter. She was afraid to use one - rightly so, I guess. But the crib note thing didn't work out so well, either.

Jdog...teleprompter might equal opinion, but this letter writer, and a Midwest voices writer both felt the need to mention the teleprompter. I just wonder what it is about the right that feels the use of a teleprompter is just horrid....the GOP front runner (Romney, like it or not) sure could have used one...and the folks mentioning teleprompters (like this letter writer and the Midwest voices author) seem to forget that Obama handled debates in 2008 pretty darn well. Just wondering why the right feels that this non issue is worth bringing up in letters and editorials.

Just curious, but what does Sarah Palin have to do with this conversation? We/you were talking about Presidents that have used teleprompters; for good or bad.
Not only is Sarah not a past President, but she's not even running for President!!!
Maybe we should include Biden in this conversation, and list all of his speaking flubs. At least he's an elected official, and Vice President at that!
TELEPROMPTER = OPINION

STY you have a serious problem with telepromters, back off on the kool-aid. You can't see with the large number of rasmussen polls included in that 287,not to mention 20 or so fox and gop polls, that perhaps the results are skewed. What am I thinking of course you can't!! If you'll look you'll see the rest of the polls are mostly non-partisan,again not that you'll get that either. I guess 1/2 term gov palin was to stupid to use a teleprompter, she wrote notes on her hand like a grade schooler.

“Dozens of police maintained a late-night guard around City Hall following daylong protests that resulted in 300 arrests. Occupy Oakland demonstrators broke into the historic building and burned a U.S. flag
(Mayor Jean) Quan said that at one point, many protesters forced their way into City Hall, where they burned flags, broke an electrical box and damaged several art structures, including a recycled art exhibit created by children.” AP, 1/12
"I understand the frustrations that are being expressed in those protests," Obama said in an interview with ABC News on Tuesday. The most important thing we can do right now," he added, is "letting people know that … we are on their side." LA TIMES 10/11.
Obama may regret today that he had no teleprompter to keep him safe during this interview…

There have been zero examples of Obama’s legislative legacy prior to being elected President offered, no example of him ever balancing a budget; just complaints about Barack Burgundy being tagged with the well earned teleprompter label.
“According to reports by both The New York Times and the Associated Press, Obama voted "present" 129 times as a state senator.” FACTCHECK.ORG
“Although many of Obama's "present" votes were part of a large bloc of presents, which would support his contention that he was part of a broader strategy, the records show that sometimes Obama was one of a small minority of senators, or the only one, to register present votes on several other criminal justice and children and families issues.” Politifact.com
He now has Obamacare, but FOT claims the polling isn’t fair. FOT’s asking us to believe that around December of 2011, the time frame specifically cited, there were 287 total polls and 102 Rasmussen polls on Obamacare. Not only was the time frame offered, but the five polls averaged have been identified. It’s obvious now that Obama’s apologists are not accidently making mistakes but are intentionally obfuscating.
To paraphrase a sage: “God help us all! You two are perfect examples, to me, of the mainstream social liberal ignorant ideologues that ate plaguing this nation. Sorry, but it's true.
Again...are, not ate. Stupid thumbs...”

And in the meantime, jobs keep being sent to China and other countries.

The teleprompter deal is manufactured by the right. I'm sure they've forgotten how it went when Sarah Palin wrote crib notes on her hand to refer to during an interview. Let it go, dittoheads. Let it go.

I'm only wondering why the letter writer felt the need to mention a teleprompter in his letter. Of course, I would imagine he heard about the teleprompter from Limbaugh...and doesn't recognize that all those papers he hears rustling in the background are being READ by the host.

JDog Amen to the end of tp's. I mentioned potato and potatoe on letters to the editor recently, what a coincedence
Posted by: Fanoftravel | January 28, 2012 at 02:30 PM
Fot, as I said earlier, I rarely engage in this type of discourse because I don't think there will ever be any winner or loser; right or wrong.
It's like potato or potatoe - does it really matter.
I prefer Economics & Finance where policies can be measured, evalated and determined to be productive or unproductive.
Teleprompter - I'm done.

JDog. I'm amazed at all the hoopla about the telepromter. Do you have any idea who started this and why is it an issue. Not sure if you looked at bachmann's video, she looked like well......

See Hugo, STY. It's a good movie.

Okay spuds, I'll bite. Bush was a poor user of the telprompter. Satisfied? Was just trying to give an example of each parties most revered President.
Accordingly, I'll take your silence on my description of Obama that you too feel he has issues when the telprompter is not present. Your 'slant' should be able to go both ways! Same for you Fot, your silence on Obama speaks volumes.
