Obama merits respect

The letters from ultraconservatives about President Obama often are expressed as vitriolic rantings. That’s commonplace

President Obama is a cautious man. He has not blindly involved the United States in wars we can’t justify or afford.

It took the previous administration eight long years to bring this country to the brink of a major depression, and it will take at least eight years to reverse the situation.

The first step in healing our country is to stop the poisonous, racist trash talk and give this president the respect he deserves and has earned.

Thanks for the advise from the "Christian" who thinks the bible is BS.

And have you ever read any of your posts?? You attack anyone who posts conservative thoughts with no mercy whatsoever. ANYONE

I attack people who attack God. And the lying one, who repeatedly has been caught lying on here. I get on a few here and you attack all who disagree with you.

Thanks but no thanks for your advise

Can anyone imagine what will happen if Romney wins the presidency? Republicans will hate him for being moderate and democrats will hate him for...well...being him. I see 4 more years of deadlock. Grim.

Zeno, do you understand that your last post is an example of why I (and I would guess that there are other posters on these threads that shared doubt) can't take you seriously whenever you try to quote scripture or attempt to play some good Christian? I'm not trying to be mean here, just honest.

I am not perfect by any variation of the word. However, I do not constantly try to wear the hat of the good Christian on these threads. You do try to wear that hat many many times. Your position, especially when trying to debate Sol about Christianity, would be a thousand times stronger if you really acted like a Christian.

Just sayin...not an attack...just an observation.

The lying one screeched>>>You have to understand the "code speak" they use, since they can't come right out and say it like they once could."

Ah, "code speak". something that people such as the lying one use to throw out accusations when they have no proof of what they say.
But that's what liars do when not eating at a non existent cafe.

Oh and now the lying one is returning the favor and coming to Sol's defense. OH BOY!

Common sense is what uneducated people fabricate and claim they possess to make up for their lack of education. It's no substitute.

Oh Good God, Linda ... go tell that same thing to all those who trashed "W".

Sorry..."are you the judge...", not ate the judge.

By the way...congrats to KU. What a game. I will have to go with Kentucky in the final, though. I mean...we need to stick with our conference.

Uncommon sense

So, JJ, ate the judge of education? I guess you hold political office? I take it that you believe you possess this "common sense" you reference? I guess you suffer from your own self-diagnosed syndrome.

Why do many conservatives despise formal education? Why do many conservatives mask their anger toward intelligent individuals in words like common sense and truth and other just vague term they never define?

News flash...Bill Clinton was a Rhodes scholar. Can anyone here put that on their resume? But hey...it's easier to sit in the corner of the class and be the tool who makes fun of people smarter than you. It is the conservative form of the ultimate envy.

There is an anti-intellectual push from the conservatives in this country. If we don't guard against this and stand up, we may find ourselves living in Huxley's vision of America. Ten bucks to any conservative who tell us what Huxley's vision of a future America was.

My comment about the President being "educated beyond his means" remains accurate and has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with race. Obama supporters will always play the race card because it detracts from the truth...and they have no argument against the truth.

However, the fact of the matter is the last three Presidents have been educated beyond their means. Obama, George W. Bush and Bill Clinton all suffer from the same syndrome...tons of formal education and absolutely NO COMMON SENSE or practical ability...that is what is meant by "educated beyond their means". By the way, to the guy that calls himself Whispering, two of those three are Caucasions...it's true...look it up. So there is no code here...just truth.

"...educated beyond his means..."

1) He managed it, it's clearly not beyond his means. Though it might have been beyond yours (which ever of ya'll first posted that classless suggestion).

2) Education is the key; it's ignorance that perpetuates the problems we suffer from. More education is always a good idea, not just for the person who gets educated, but for every person who has to interact with them for the rest of their lives.

Wrong, Wrong, Wrong......(embarrassing!)
That SHOULD be:

.and his attorney general refusing to take on BLACK on WHITE cases of "hate crimes"

....you guys probably caught my gist though...

LL

Sol...Santorum and Christian (including Hitler), Cuomo and Italian (probably including Mussolini)...You first mention Obama's race as (his heritage) finally calling him africanamerican.....

Don't you realize that Obama (Citizen of the World) is 1/2 white (including some Irish heritage) and 1/2 black....you always seem to forget that someone of this heritage mixture could possibly bring us all closer together as a nation...

...although he seems much more determine to bring us apart. Speaking out on the Martin (black) killing by Zimmerman (white/hispanic), his black professor friend arrested by a white policemen...and his attorney general refusing to take on white on black cases of "hate crimes". Maybe he'd be much better off holding off on his opinion...seems like he's making our racial divide even worse...as Juan Williams said...it would have been nice had he'd ALSO spoken of the young black men killing young black men... ...just saying...

"... what does the quote even mean about "educated beyond" ones means? ..."

It means he's an uppity negro.

You have to understand the "code speak" they use, since they can't come right out and say it like they once could.

It's nice to see Zeno has moved on to stalking solomon. ;)

It's quite simple actually. Obama was an experiment that failed. It's time to throw him out and start over.

...and...

"Your presumption to tell me how I should feel toward him shows that you suffer from the same affliction as he."

JJ

Good post from a conservative stand point. These quotes really sum it up from conservatives, at least for a lot of what I read on these threads. The post both negatively looks at someone's education and the letter writer's position.

First, what does the quote even mean about "educated beyond" ones means? How is it a bad thing to be educated beyond my means? This, to me, directs us to a common conservative belief that an educated and intelligent individual is a bad thing. We see the conservative anti-intellectual bent often when they refer to intellectuals as snobs or elitists, even though their own confidantes have ivy league degrees. We see OT in their anti-evolution and anti-science agendas. We even now see it in their anti-technology push against medical and energy research.

Now, one might even be able to take a racist slant from that posted sentence. It's not okay for President Obama to be educated beyond his means, but I doubt the poster has a problem with all the Republican candidates having Ivy League educations, since it was within their means.

The last quote from the post makes me pause as well. Why do we see someone's position as an attempt to tell someone how they should think? True, a stated position is an attempt to persuade, but not that you have to accept it. The letter writer does not say that you must accept this and there is no room for self-evaluation. The writer simply stated an opinion...move on if you don't agree.

I could say that I like cheese and give you reasons why. Even if I tell you why I think you should too, I'm not telling you that you have to accept it. I am simply attempting to persuade. However, I fear that conservatives would say I'm a cheese snob and how dare I tell them they should like cheese. I must be an educated cheese elitist. Do conservatives have the same gut check whenever they see a commercial or pass a billboard?

And Zeno...not sure where you saw any atheist comment either?

Other that...carry on everyone. We are working wonders, spinning our wheels in the same political quagmire that we find so often find on these threads.

JJ

If I ever met the man, I would address him as Mr. President. That respect he deserves as the duly elected official.

Other than that I have absolutely no respect for the man. He is a condescending jerk that is educated well beyond his means. I could not possibly care less about his race.

Your presumption to tell me how I should feel toward him shows that you suffer from the same affliction as he.
