Recessions such as this one provide the impetus to look at new and better ways of doing things. Perhaps if Chrysler itself can sell its Grand Caravan minivan as a 30 mpg turbo diesel version to demanding Europeans, it could here, too. Americans are not addicted to gas guzzling after all.
Similarly, Americans don’t have to accept mediocre health-care access, exclusive clauses, stressful payment systems and limited choice options.
We need to seriously consider where other nations have succeeded in providing their citizens with superior products, adopt what works, and stop our senseless practice of corporate welfare disguised as free enterprise
